hey mate, is it the v6 or 1.8?

how much do you plan on spending on exhaust alone? overall budget?

basic things are:
- full exhaust, extractors through to tip, 2" if you plan on remain almost stock, 2.25" if you're doing intake mods (this is for 1.8L)
- cold air intake (CAI) from the front straight to either the airbox (if using a panel filter) or to the MAF if you're using a pod. if you decide to keep the stock airbox there is a K&N panel filter than fits straight up
- run 98ron fuel and advance the timing to take advantage

other engine things are:
- iridium plugs, better performance and don't need to be replaced ($20 a piece from supercheap)
- bigger leads (custom for around $100)
- port and polish the head (depends on who, how much and where)

its a 1.8L, well my budget isnt decided yet but something that sounds good and works well is what i after and i not sure of prices so lets just say mid range budget.

ok thanks for those basic starters.

if you had my car and wanted it to run as good as it could with a mid range budget what would you do.

def extractors and all the exaust stuff but anything else.

thanks tom

middle of the range budget? you middle maybe different but say about $4000 remaining NA ($5000 would go straight to turbo swap for me).

you could get everything i listed above for $4000 easily except the port and polish. the cost of pulling the engine and doing it just isn't worth it alone if you're paying someone to do it.

if you can do your own mechanical work, pull the engine, send the head to be ported and polished. get some reground cams with a mild increase, nothing major but enough to liberate a little more power without needing a new EMS. then get 80thou pistons to get a little more capacity. biggest downside is you'll need a new EMS to make full use of these mods, without it they work run 100%.

yup.

2k would cover all that plus a set of springs and maybe a swaybar.

all a hartop really needs.
