MX-6 Rear Strut Bar Into BJ Model Mazda

Hey Peoples,

Was going through my old emails and tidying up and found this link i sent myself ages ago

http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showt...-in-a-Protege5

Basically $100 ebay strut tower bar vs spending like $300 for a carbing one.. just though i would post it up :-D

this sounds like a dumbdumb question. but sinde the ba and bj have the same stud pattern for the top plates, ba and bj rear tower bars shound be interchangable right?

If they are the same stud pattern... Them they would also have to be the same length (or close if you get adj. one) and so long as the strut tops are set on a similar angle....

Doubt it would be interchangeable between Bj and BA

same pattern, but the orientations are different, furthermore there is more likely a difference in lengths.... the BG and BA used their own smaller chassis, whereas the BJ was based off the GF 626

a strut bar is better than no strut bar, but don't kid yourself if you think that $20 rubbish works just as good as the $300 carbing/autoexe.... it's a flimsy piece of tubular aluminium and does not provide as much strength as those expensive bars... the adjustable joints also are a weak point.... even a GT spec strut bar (which is still cheaper than those JDM ones) is much better than these cheap ebay MX-6 bars

if you got no money, go for it
if you got money, then don't be cheap and get something good if you want every bit of handling and chassis rigidity from your car... at the very least, get a GT spec bar which actually is pretty solid, but I don't like them because they sit lower in the boot, which takes away precious room... it sits lower because it is designed to allow their trunk brace kit to mount up to it

I always believing in "you get what you pay", and this is a good example of that!
