changing rear display lights to LED's

hey i see alot of cars out there now and it looks cool and is quite functional.

would like to replace my rear lights with LED's. Brake and indicator (maybe reverse) on my 03 protege.

anyone know of anyone else whos done this before and/or would know how to do it? i have a couple of mates who are good with electronics who would do it for me.

obviously ill have to buy another set of lights to mod them.

Thanks for help!

Adam suggested doing the reverse lights on my BG with LED's, he found an article and some LED style globes or something last night. Will ask him about that when he gets home.

Haven't tried them yet, but Jaycar sells them. I assume they'd just plug in.

Yes. most places like Super Crap Auto and Autobarn have LED lights with standard light fittings for sale.. different colours too.

They aren't cheap from memory.. i think 1 interior light was in the vacinity of $10, but no doubt the pricing has come down as they've become more popular.

In the 03 onwards cars they have large wedge type globs. Those ones from jaycar have the round metal bases on them, so would only fit older mazdas.
