AVi speakers experiance ?

Hey,

I was checking out some front/rear speakers today at my mates workshop and he really recommends AVI LXD160 speakers. What do you guys think ? and whats a good price for these ? Without a amp for now, it will be put in soon lol

I've never even heard of AVi in all my audio hunting?

A friend of mine works at a audio workshop in north sydney and thats pretty much all they recommend there. I came in thinking id spend 800ish on a some front/rear speakers and he gave me a quote for a set of AVI speakers front/rear and twitters for like 1200 lol and thats apparently with a BIG discount on the parts...

He reckons they can take a lot more of a beating with or without a amp compared to anything else, but like you said Davo, i dont think i've heard much if anything about them.

never heard of them, and @ 1200 just for front and rear speakers, that seems like a fair bit, my whole system cost about that including, head deck, 3 amps 6 speakers and 2 12 inch subs :P, sure its not competition quality but it pumps enough to make my ears hurt without starting to crackle.

did you hear of pheonix gold? i mean before i asked and you googled? like most things, you pay for quality. i have never heard of avi either but the 1st few returns on a search came up with a german company homepage with english PDF brochures. the stats are simply amazing. but unless you are going for competition level clarity it is absolutly pointless. kind of like getting $6000 wheels for a daily driver, or a $10000 bearmetal paintjob, awesome, but useless...

I've decided im going to try them out, turns out their a Canadian brand and from what i could gather on the net, their actually really good. Front speakers + twitters go in next weekend, so ill see how it goes.

rear speakers a week or 2 after that and then a amp within the month. Figured im better off saving up a bit and buying good parts piece by piece, rather then getting cheap stuff all at once.

Yes I agree its good to save up and buy the good stuff if thats what you'll eventually want.
It takes patience but you save a lot more money and learn/appreciate more by upgrading components one at a time
