0guage power thru firewall

Hi all,

just wondering if any1 has run a 0guage power wire from battery into the cabin thru the firewall ? I've only ever seen reccomended spots for 4guage, 0guage is about twice as thick and of course then needs a bigger hole.

all i can think of is the hole that the engine loom passes thru, but I think 4g was a squeeze to get thru there, so im guessing 0g would be even harder.

any ideas ?

I had no trouble really getting 0 gauge through the firewall in the hole which is behind the battery so to speak. This on a BJII though.

And yes, it's bl**dy thick.
Biggest drama was getting hold of the end from inside and making it go where you want....perseverence.....

Be sure to upgrade the earth line on the battery with that sort of positive power run. 4 gauge in a short run to the chassis will be fine.

hopefully when i remove the battery to put the optima in, ill see something good. If i remove the aircon, like i want to, maybe I'd be able to use the leftover hole to run the new power thru.

the earth line is taken care off. i bought a 2nd battery terminal ( 1x0g, 2x4g ) so i'll run 0g for the earth too, plus maybe use the extra 4g lines for additional grounding straight from the engine etc.

chris, have u ever heard of people having trouble with induced noise affecting the engine, when the power wire is run alongside the engine loom ?

i still wonder if it would disrupt signals from the various engine sensors to the ecu...

i put a piece off welding wire through the firewall from the the cab into the engine bay rapped it round the 0 guage squeezed it an tapped it up then i pulled the welding wire while my son feed it into the gromet off the main harness left side behind battery ,no need to pull anything out just keep feeling the gromet as u pull so u dont pull it through

I've got zero running through my firewall in the exact place you said for the battery in boot conversion . All you need to do is poke a knife through first so it cuts the grommet a little. Then it's a hard but simple push though.
