Ebay miracle universal " performance " mods.

What's the go with these amazing power mods I see spammed on eBay all the time. I'm talking about the 30 dollar superchargers and air flow chips. " Brian " or " John " say that they " notice jumps in horsepower over 20+ and more! ".

What's the verdict on these things, and what other magical power mods made by Chinese performance tuners are there?

is this for the pink flamingo or are you seriusly considering? cus its all a bunch of bs IMO.. if there is any difference its a placibo, i mean most difference i noticed in my car was changing the airfilter, dizzy and plugs, that made it feel like a new damn engine but still not any hp over stock..

Considering it's probably costing them $3 to make, they're gaining alot for you to find out weather they work or not.

but if it was you selling them youd be singing another song, my point is who cares how much they make 30 buck is still a very small loss. if it works 20+hp for 30 bucks is pretty good id say, but if it dont work then you missed a couple of feeds from maccas

OK, let me get one for $3, and I will sell it back to you for $30. Still the same story for you then?

The problem is that your tricking one sensor out of several, on a car designed with redundency systems that will change your power back to what it's meant to be, and perhaps use more fuel at the same time. And you won't gain 20hp, you might get 5hp, for a little while...

It's your money I guess.

what if people who have tried it before told you it didnt work...

as ive said this has been talked about 10times every year... and i think 1 or 2 have tried it since i have been a member on here...

****WASTE OF MONEY****

you can go spend your $30 on it if you want but please read... if it did work all of us on here would have it and be telling you to get it and not saying "dont get it its a waste of money"

no one previously mentioned anything about these not working, just that they were all over ebay. 30 bucks for something that doesnt work is pretty small on the grand scale of car mods. my point is unless someone posts a thread saying that it has been tried and tested and failed then people are still going to wanna try it

The first 2 posts after your OP both said they were BS and don't work.

Just because a different seller puts the same 2 wires and resistor in a different mostly empty box, doesn't give cause to subject them to further testing. The results will still be the same.

I don't wanna be a $#!T, but you want someone to do a search for the info to link so that you don't have to yourself? And those of us who responded, have already done this anyhow, and just told you out right in any case.

We're just trying to help you out, but there is an onus of responsibility on yourself to do a little footwork at times too. Or at least try respect that we've seen the issue come up numerous times.

I hope that doesn't rub you up the wrong way too much, I'm just trying to be reasonable.

My feeling with these sorts of things in life is that if they truly worked then everyone would do it. This includes weight loss pills, hair loss **** etc.

Calm the frak down

it's nothing I wanted for the flamingo, that's designed for the showroom floors only anyway.

More as to what I was asking is, if they are shonky, why is there still a large market for them. There is some sort of obvious demand for it from people, and it's probably just cheap promises sucking people in with the " why not it's only 30 quid" ideal. Or is the demand fueled legitimately ??

theres an obvious market for them because most car modifiers are gullible and not technically inclined. Theres that good ole saying, you get what you pay for. read magazines like rice 4's and even they say that!

alot of these chips and things as mentioned before a million times, DO *sometimes* work in *certain* situations. but all its doing is fudging the fuel level.

If I wanted to spend less and get a better result on a decade old mazda, I would be buying 12 dollars worth of wiring and re-wiring the battery, and making sure all the earths are clean, connected and in good condition.

then spend the remaining money on a 6-pack and play some xbox.

many of the chips are copies of aftermarket tuning companies ecu programs so they do work in some cars, as i have stated before. an example is in a swift gti, the chip is a copy of an (well known aftermarket brand i cant remember, no this because a guy compared the chip to the aftermarket chip he acquired and was going to copy himself) rally chip so it has the rally fuel maps etc..

however if this is the case for say car X: then someone on forum for car X would be

a.) selling them
or
B.) everyone has one and recommends it

check redlinegti.com,
for the gti its not in there head. there is a proven 10% power gain,
and there are obvious differences,
the car changes in how it idle, it idles higher on start up (varies revs like an rx7) then drops down,
the ecu is tuned to high octane so runs rough on normal unleaded
and its faster then the stock swift next to u. (but not the turbo car a k in front whooping the monaro)

but then the chip was bought through a forum member not ebay

i agree. if it was that good, whenever someone posts up "what do i do to my stock astina" the repies would all be, go on ebay and get a little spinny thing to clog up your intake. instead its never mentioned...
