Took my car to the drag strip..
OK I can scan in my slip but dont have anywhere to host image...
So I'll just type my best time in. And please remember this is for a SP model BG Astina, with 58kw atw if Nates dyno is any indication (please no flame me for bringing back up). And I left my spare tyre, sub and amp in, so no weight reduction. Elapsed Time 16.938 sec Terminal Speed 82.49 mph 132.75 kph Reaction Time 0.729 sec 60' 2.662 sec 330' 7.218 sec 660' 10.969 sec 660' speed 105.35 kph 1000' 14.201 sec Result LOSE This was my first time at the drags, so I could probably improve my reaction or 60' time and could definately use some advise for what all the numbers mean. But I'm pretty stoked for high 16's and the car has not mods other than Pedders sports springs & shockies, at the front only at this stage

Agreed... especially seeing that nob that killed himself on the Central Coast last week was a brother to one of my old school 'friends'...
Also good to see a ye-olde BG SP Astina with sub, amp etc running a high 16... Wonder what the BA Hardtop does...

cool to see another astina at the drags.
at the moment, dont worry about your reaction times. they dont effect your 1/4 mile time. concerntrate heavily on the 60ft times. taking 0.1 seconds off the 60ft time equates to up to 0.2 seconds off your 1/4 mile time. but if you are worried about your reaction time, leave when you see the last orange light. by the time you react, the car reacts and starts to move, you'll get pretty close to a 0.400 reaction time. my best was a 0.401 and that was pure luck. |

in all honesty how far would the times come down if you removed the spare tyre, backseat, subs , amps etc

Depends on the size of the sub/amp. Every little bit helps, especially when they measure down to a hundreth of a second.

absolutely.
for the lower powerful cars, 50lb removal (aka 22kg) = 0.1 second off the time |

And definately make sure your car isn't leaking anything, cause then track stewards or whatever they are called close off the strip until its all cleaned up. I was waiting for a whole hour while a spill was getting cleaned up (so were 40 other cars). This is NOT how u make friends. Oh, and yeh had fun.

I took the Lynx down last October to WSID
cost $45 and I had 6 Run's could have had more. I had an absolute ball not having to worry about thinking is there a copper near by. got timeslips which makes it good to compare with other cars and my mate got it all on DVD for me Well worth doing Rob
