the suzukis are setup differently to the astina...as mentioned before the astina has several sensor and so on...the suzuki may only use 1 or 2...

yeah they are, when u only need to chip it to use a turbo
rather then an ecu conversion. sure most bpt users wished this was the case

although im sure there would be more gti's racing then astinas so more market for a proper ecu chip to be developed,
think the nissan GTR they tune the stock ecu rather then an standalone or piggyback

Early ECUs used resisters to tune them (think VK Commo era). Tuners in those days could do a lot with a hand full of components.
BGs are a lot smarter, BAs use a factory programmed CPU and BJs I believe have flash memory which can be re-writen with the right tools.

If you think a cheap assed wonder product from e-bay will live up to those promises then spend your money. Book some dyno time though, just to be sure that you get your moneys worth.

What is the general go with BG's and BA's with the ECUs

Are they capable of being re-tuned, and if not whats the solution, piggy backs or standalone EMS's ?

if i remember rightly i wasnt the one who started the thread, so i assumed that this was the first one about it and like i said, i stand corrected. my point was based on an assumption and i more or less apologised for that all ready. i admit that i had thought about looking into them as well, but was planning on doing some research first. i dont feel there was any need for the flaming but i do understand where you are coming from

What are you wanting to achieve and why do you feel that the ECU is the key? Even if it could be re-programmed to do the job properly you're looking at professional fees and dyno time. IMO you have the ability to easily change the base timing and idle level with the factory ECU and it'll adjust fuel levels to accept new cams, exhaust and other engine mods. I would delay changing the ECU until you have exhausted its capabilities.

It's not for me, or anyone in particular. I was just wondering in the big scheme of things, especially since most electronics of any kind aren't my forte, It is always good to have a bit of extra knowledge.
