Google Street View is here!

Hi guys! I believe today google street view is launched in Australia! If you go to maps.google.com, type an address in, and if the street is outlined in blue you should have a street level view of the place!

My boss' husband was caught running from the garden into the house to pick the phone up hahaha...

Now that would be SO funny!!

I was playing with this in my lunch break and it's so weird to think that one of those camera cars went down my little street in Valentine. Cool though.

My photo was taken on a really miserable day weather wise. Middle of the week because no cars are home.

I just saw this article and thought some of you might like to have a look. There are a lot of people complaining about it already. As I just said in the "Google Maps Game" thread, I originally thought it was a little bit intruding, I now don't think it's that bad - after reading this you might understand.

http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=609843

NB - Link also posted in "Google Maps Game" so if you've read it in there, you don't need to read it here. Cheers

yawn .... I'm so tired of all the idjits in the press complaining about how Google street view is going to ruin our privacy, let people look into your loungeroom, stop the chickens producing milk and the cows laying eggs ...

you have to find it funny that someone contemplating running out of their house in their nightie didn't notice a car in front of the house with a 3 foot tall camera rig on top of it ... a bit like missing the giant robot hiding behind the street light

Look at it a different way.
The pic of Kitty and Aarons house shows an old Laser and the COD, brown grass and a big sack of recyclables. If you don't know the background then you get the wrong impression.
If you were an employer you could look at this and form the wrong impression. Imagine if you were selling your house and Goggle showed a police car out front, you could loose thousands off your property value for the sake of a misunderstanding.

HAHA ... that's part of my point ... people have no idea what street view really is or even how old the pictures are ... it's like the Google Earth sat shots ... they show the building I work in as a hole in the ground ... and the street view still shows them completing the building

ahahah thats not a bad point there cosmo,

I work in HR and say i wanted to see where people live I could easily just do random checks on peoples houses.

sure I could do this witha few hours and street directory but I can do it online now in minutes

meanwhile I have to say I am disappointed I wasn't on my balcony smoking when the car went tpast.

Excuse me a minute while I see what sort of house a salary of 3million a year gets.
