The 6-8 Weeks is to have yours repaired against 15 days for a refurbished. I opted to have mine repaired for the very reason you quoted. Mine has played probably 40 hours of movie use and 24 hours of MSG4 so very little. For me to opt for a refurbished PS3 with unknown hours of use and only 2 months left of my warranty sounds pretty stupid to me.

I will remember the lens replacement for after its out of warranty as I am sure this will happen again at some stage.

Finally I dont need to use my PS3 to stream video as my Media PC also has HDMI and digital optical out so I get 1080p output to my Sony Bravia TV and it has 4TB of entertainment

Weird! One of the guys at work [different fella to the one that i fixed] returned his, after the 5th week he rang and complained about the length of time it was taking. Got one back and it wasn't his..

Far Cry 2 has left the tropical island and is now in Africa. In Africa you have a 50km2 open world, that´s bigger than in Oblivion, so the beginning words at the public presentation at DreamHack.

I´ve seen over 60 minutes playing time of Farc Cry 2 and i really know now: This game is a must have title!

In Far Cry 2 you have a 24h weather cycle, 1 minute in the game is 5 minutesin real time and you can use this weather cycle for the missions, cause if you want to start a mission at night, so you can. The enemies interact with the weather perfectly, so they see less at night and are more concentrated.

As said you have an open world, you can interact with people in Far Cry 2, you can decide if you make a mission or not. Also you can recruit other people for your missions and you can buy new items or weapons.

Grafical is Far Cry 2 really fantastic and the area is highly destructible. The full 50km2 is without any loadings, so you can run from a to B without loading. The bushes, trees and other would burn out if you burn it with the flamthrower, houses and buildings are destructible, cars,... It´s a pretty realistic gameplay. Africa is dirty, so your weapon could jam, AK less as other one...

Maybe you remember on Far Cry 1: It was beautiful to see, it was a great map editor but it wasn´t easy to play and it was very linear.

In Far Cry 2 you have a map editor too. But for that, you can watch the demo presentation:

All in all, Far Cry 2 is a perfectly game and everyone should watch it at least once!

Yeh i've been getting stuck into GRID these past couple of weeks. Not being able to play a lot due to social life see's me slowly creeping up the rankings.. I've only really completed the whole of the first tier, and about a third of the second tier.

24 hour Le Mans is hard, even on the short version. I'm always last on that one.. I'll need plenty of practice.

Just recently bought Unreal TOurnament 3, it is awesome. I'm a fan of the original games, so this was a no brainer for me to enjoy!!

Waiting for Far Cry 2 and Fifa 09.

The mode in Fifa and PES09 that let you play as a single player for the whole game, sounds like an interesting change to the usual sport game.


Trying to decide whether to buy a LCD or plasma TV. I don't like LCD - the picture always looks kinda odd to me. But its supposed to be better for games.

Sniping in CoD4 is fun, by pure fluke i got 3 kills with 1 bullet, 1 person ran behind the other, gotta love it when they line up, and bullet drop hit some1 layin down further away.

I think a good quality LCD is better then plasma, and pausing for ages doesn't etch the screen.

Amen on that one brother! I've got Tranformers on regular DVD, however i'm thinking of getting it on Blu-Ray also.. And Ironman is a must. My partner is sick of seeing me play the trailer that I downloaded off PS Store..

The burn-in problem with Plasmas isn't a problem with the new ones. Especially if you treat it right for the first 200 hours.
The pic quality is just so much better than lcd to me, and the technology costs less !

star wars game seems to be a flop. I've tried it on ps3, wii and psp.

Very linear game. The Wii controller thing is no where near as cool as it should have been. The force powers & fight sequences are fun at first but get old quickly.

I think their taking advantage of the star wars name to drag the game into success but gamers are wiser these days !
