dont go out and buy 6x9's for the back . because since you are getting subs they are really not needed and you dont want to real cut 6x9 ovals in your mazda parcel shelf (looks dodgey )

I agree with the last few posts about 6x9's. I also have a better reason, just how strong is your parcel shelf? If you think it'll be a good platform for some speakers that can move as much as a lot of 6x9's do you have a surprise coming. Most nice installations of speakers into hatch parcel shelfs will make a custom shelf for this reason.

As tp & goldsp said, you are getting subs you don't need them. The main reason to get 6x9's is the extra bass over 6"/6.5" speakers.

Although I wouldn't go so far as to say 6x9's are crap as Fro-Daddy did, it is still a fact than an oval speaker doesn't reproduce sound as well.

personally id get 6" splits for the front (so the tweaters are seperate) and for 6" in the back i would go 3 way

since ur getting subs there is no need to worry about more 'ways' drowning out base but ull proably find that splits up front give you a nicer sound

if you wanted some good bassy back speakers in the rear get some large splits such as 8 or 9"

but really 6" will do as long as you pick a good model.
I have 6" in the rear - they rattle the front doors and the boot like a sub does.
