The BG needs a transmission

Body
engine
wheels
The lot for $335 and when we went to have a look at it I felt so bad for him that I gave him $350 (*cheers* "what a guy")
Now I need a Transmission mount (shows fatigue) and a transmission
I was wondering what the code for the box would be for a 92 BG with a SOHC BP engine (160ks Dammit thats less than the Beast)
Then hopefully Amanda will have her car going by christmas and we may break it in with the annual Gladstone trip 600km each way to test her out
The Cat is a bit on the happy side now as she has just finished her double teaching degree of 4 years in Dance and Secondary Education and I wanted for her to be able to drive to the Gold Coast each day for work commencing at Southport High on the 19th of Jan
So AMANDA HAS A CAR
So look out AGT

Sorry so Does anyone know what transmission I will need and If there is one in Brisbane that would be better
So search your sheds and give me an idea where I may find one

Much better than my first car

P.S. the car has no rust at all and the interior IS immaculate
The bloke selling it thought he would get more money selling it in parts
ANd the original ATX was worn

BARGAIN

Make sure you leave some positive feedback for him
Congrats to Amanda for sticking with (and pulling through) the studies!

Are you after another auto trans. or a manual?

It It was pretty tough for her (well both of us) but she made herself proud by improving her GPA each and every semester
She wants to earn some money now
We just need an auto box as she has never owned a car before and has very little driving experience and really none in Queensland and with an hours drive each way and lotsa peak hour goodness on the return trip each day the auto will suit
Once she gets confident though she WILL give it a tweak and I am sure a BPT will get her excited
But for now the SOHC mill will be a safe and happy little commuter

I also need to wire the engine in so if anyone has the wiring diagram for this then I would love to get it on file

I will be ringing a few other places this afternoon but I will be looking into the G and F saga
I wouldnt have thought there were different auto boxes this way as the auto boxes were never meant for performance as such
Will get back to you all

Get an F if you'e leaving it stock.

if you go for a G series you'll be changing clutch/flywheel (or torque converter thingy), gearbox mounts, driveshafts + cvs...

well done petekins (you bastard ) ... when you are ready to scoure for parts i will definately come on the hunt with you. finding a box shouldnt be too difficult ... just stay awy from those #$%^ at marooka. *Should* even be able to pull one out of a BG sedan or something like that as i cant see the boxes being any different. i know kellys up here at boondal has one and from memory it way auto. anyway i need to get down ot ABC so ill see what i fin ddown there

Ian - the astina's only came with a G series manual (im guessing they didnt make an auto version?) and to change from a f series to a G-UNIT! is a task in itself, let alone going from auto to manual.

no idea on the code tho...i'm sure there was a list on protegetech but the site seems to be gone

Well I gave the seller another $50 for the box that was originally in the car
It seems that Reverse doesn't work and in Park the car will roll a bit
Have spoken to my mechanic (Cheers Bodey) and he said that with all forward gears working it shouldn't be to hard to fix and seeing that the wreckers want around the $700 mark, its worth the try and for what, $50
Will see what comes of this then

yeop i think a V6 astina auto box is one of the only options as a potential upgrade. either that or something out of a 2nd Gen MX6

I'm not sure if i dreamed it, but i think the Auto G uses a different length RHS driveshaft to the manual G series

would be interesting to see if an Auto G could fit beside the BPT, and if it is any stronger than the manual. would certainly be an advantage to the drag junkies who run big power nad blow boxes in a big way!
