Nah, that's still the Revhard one (with new end-tanks) that i've had since it was turbo. It's just black now.

Looks like this:

Ahhh, I see. And was that the proverbial oily rag with which it runs on the scent of.

Does the radiator get any fresh air?

Yeah, plenty from the sides and top. With the new radiator it's perfect, but the old one used to struggle in peakhour traffic on 30°+ days (but that's all). The thermofan dealt with anything less than that.

So after the cruise, i got motivated.

Oh ****, my interior fell out!

Why? That thing in the foreground, that's why.
It's one of the dealer-fitted sunroofs back when the BA was new. It's an aftermarket ASC one, as as far as i know we never got the factory ones here. The only real difference is the ASC one has a metal seal around the edge, where the factory one has a rolled metal edge. I could get a rolled edge panel from japan, but it's $750 just for that

This is the roof bow that has to be cut out to fit the sunroof. It's really not that strong - the brace itself is pretty strong, but the ends where it joins into the sides are pretty thin - surprisingly so.

The headlining just fits out the front door without bending it too much, which is promising for getting the thing back in there! It's help in by a few clips at the back, but mostly by the window rubbers and the sunvisor bolts and light fixture.

Need to do some shopping to get some plastic tubing for the drainage pipes, and find somewhere to wire in the switch. It's a common ground, so easy there.

And i've managed to find an OEM sunroof control, which has the maps lights and the sunroof switch integrated, and it mounts between the sunvisors.

More to come this weekend.

I don't see why - even if you get a professionally installed one you don't require an engineers cert.

Also, wnt shopping and got 6m of clear plastic hosing from Clark Rubber for the drainage channel which run from each corner of the roof. And went to Lincraft where i got 2.5m of a darker grey fabric for redoing the headlining. It's a littler darker than what i wanted (and means i have to spray the A/B/C pillar trims to match) but i think it'll look pretty good.

A 'n' B pillars in hatch are either green or grey. Only hardtop are baby poop brown.

C pillars are the same colours but won't fit the hardtop

Yeah by going to a darker colour it makes the interior feel alot smaller too.

i happen to know of a place in brissie with a wrecked HT and sunroof, i was thinking of doing this as well. are you putting any extra strengthening in around the edges? or just the metal seal?
