Squeeky Wiper
One of my wiper's on the windscreen squeeks! I thought it may just need replacing, and wot I did was replace it with the one from the rear window wipers, and it still squeeks!
Do I need to adjust the bearings or something, or just get a new wiper blade? |

Does it sound like the rubber on the windscreen type smearing sound? Or does it sound like more of a mechanical type squeak? I guess you could spray some WD40 into the servo or bolts that drive the wiper arms. Otherwise new blades don't cost a fortune. I don't know how it is on your type of 323, but the BJ rear wiperblade is much shorter and shouldn't be swapped. If you replace, I reccomend good plain rubber blades over silicone or graphite coated blades. I've tried all of them, and I reckon the good old single blade rubber is the best and most affordable.

To check if it's rubber or mechanical I'd raise the wipers and turn 'em on.
If the squeek stops then clean down the screen with metho and newspaper (not the good drinkin' metho), if not then as Gav said lube the spindle.

Thanks guys! I'm pretty sure it is the rubber squeeking against the window. But you'll soon find out :-)

ya can get whole wiper assemblys for $10 which come with a new blade but the blades arnt that good
ive noticed that the TRICO wipers seem to be the best, expensive but they dont seem to squeak or anything for a long time dont touch the actual wiper blades as well, the graphite is there for a reason :P |

Where do I get the whole kit from? How much do those TRICO wipers go for?

You can get any of the above from Supercheats or Autobarn. The "kit" is a generic wiper arch with the wiper blades already fitted that replaces the mazda bits on the wiper arm. Lift up the wiper arm, flip wiper arch around and push towards car and off it comes.

the rubber goes brittle in the sun ... in qld you have to put new blades in at least one every 12 months if you car lives outside

Wiper blades are one of those cheap-ass things you should replace every year anyway. In Melb it's normaly the start of winter but since we don't get rain no more then Meh.
