Haha ed, people in Australia on a whole couldn't care less about what gets disposed of correctly. No training or info is given to the tradesmen and apprentices about what to with nicd batteries, or fluro tubes. So in the skip bin they go. What's worse is when you tell people you shouldn't do it, no one cares, especially if it costs them money to do it properly...

Reminds me of when I lived in NZ.
Except almost every day in winter I had to throw at least 4 buckets of cold water over my car to release the locks and unstick the rubbers off the door frames(the garden hoses were frozen along with the towels on the washing line!!) then I had to start the car then go eat breakfast in the hopes that the car had warmed up enough so that the heater would defrost the rest of the car so that the windows wouldn't freeze as soon as i started moving.
When I used to go out at nights in the weekends into the city I used to have to take an old newspaper to throw on the windscreen to stop it freezing so I could drive home!
When I lived on the farm we used to have to leave an oil bar heater on underneath the tractor, 4WD's and my parents car to stop the blocks from freezing and so there was always a vehicle ready to go in case of an emergency.
It was that cold there that the hot water pipes used to freeze in winter!

Whats scary is the hottest recorded temp on our farm in NZ was hotter than the highest temp ever recorded in Brisbane at 42°C .
Oh and the coldest temp was 30°C lower than Brisbane's coldest recorded temp at -30°C.

Currently watching Olympic walking.
And let's be honest... There's not a lot of ways to look as ridiculous as fast pace competition walking. Love it haha
