Ash's SP20

Why make a build thread? Because I can, that's why :P
I'll try not to make it too boring

Bought her June 2013, just over 100'000 k's, completely stock.
It had been sitting in someone's driveway for a year, so I had to replace a few seals, the suspension was out of alignment, a few scratches in the paintwork, but I loved it. It was my first "cool" car

I had a few photos of the day I got the car, but I can't find them now -_-
But this is after I got home from buying it.

And next to my old car, just after the Bundaberg floods.

Bled the brakes and clutch.

It's not scraping yet, needs more low :P

Putting Ryan's rims on his car, tested one on mine too.

Brake discs machined. Love that machined finish :P Needs new rims though :/

The view as I walk into my room XP

BUT, me being me, there was some things I didn't like, the rims, the ride height, and those rear lights >.>

So now for the fun bit :P

First "build" week, replace front light bulbs, for needlessly expensive NARVA Intense bulbs. One of the parkers was blown, and my high beam's were woefully dull.... So I replaced all of them, fog lights included.

Old "yellow" lights.

Nice, new "white" lights.

"Build" week 2

Decided to do something about the rims, and lights, so I went out and bought a variety of caliper paint, plastidip, spray tint, and other painting necessities.
Also this was just after a big storm, so the humidity was at 95% for pretty much a week straight, and then it would only drop below 60% during the middle of the day, so I only had 3 or 4 hours to paint.

Day 1 - Calipers

Masked up and ready to go. Side note, a roll of cheap garbage bags came in really handy this week.

Done!

Day 2 - Rims

Masking, because I prefer to save plastidip, rather than deliberately overspray just so I can peel if off easier.

3 coats on, probably not enough, but we'll see if I ever decide to peel it off.
Absolutely loving the look it gives.

Decided to get the lights ready for tomorrow. My poor car

Day 3 - Tinting lights

This bit made me freak a little bit, nothing like sanding a perfectly good (and shiny) taillight to make you cringe.

Was it worth it? You tell me :P

Before.

After.

Both front and rear are too dark for my taste, and I want to get a better finish on them anyway, so I'll sand them back a little. Other than that, I'm happy with how it looks.

Next on my to do list, aftermarket muffler (not a fart cannon) and coilovers.... So I can finally have that low I've wanted :P

And one day a turbo....

Welcome to AGT another member in bundy good to see
I'll be up there in 4 weeks,

Just polish the lights, give them a realllllyyyyyy good buff and they will lighten up with out getting hot spots from sanding,

Look up perry muffler on EBay under SP20 probably the best sounding muffler for these cars, and not to loud which is ev pen better just a perfect note.

Good stuff man. Love seeing lots of them little first mods on the first post. Always looks encouraging.

Wish I were you. My Astina is my 3rd car, but never really got stuff done until over a year later. :P Hopefully I can be up there with you 1.8-2.0 owners one day. Thinking of getting an MX-5 or something different, but then again, there are more SP20's down here too.

I think my bro Daniel Krushka knows that dude Ryan.
