After a dyno tune last year, BJ Astina 1.8 did an 8.2 on the way back from the dyno shop. I think it should have been good for 8.0 if I had bothered to launch and shift hard. Getting started is the tricky bit. Detuned, decammed and deintaked now. Power to noise ratio was not acceptable. Concentrating on corners instead for a while.

you're in 5th before 100kph ??
for quickest times you should still be in 3rd or just going into 4th

Ours doesn't start pulling hard till 4500rpm and will sing happily to 6500rpm-7000rpm
92 BG SP manual
never timed it's 0-100 time though

By comparison my 2003 Falcon BA auto does 158kph in 2nd at the rev limiter of 6300rpm
of course it does around 15 sec 1/4 mile times

Of course
Bandag Bullet does 10 sec 1/4s and makes more smoke than a coal fired power station

nup
1st is good for around 80kph
Wind resistance stops it around 220kph in 3rd(about 205 in 4th)
booting it at 100 to overtake it will drop back to second and shift up to 3rd at around 130-140(depending if I have it in sport mode or not)

My old XD and XE Fords were good for 120 odd in 2nd with the engines running out of cam at 4800rpm, same with my old '76 302 Fairlane

Pretty sure Astina Autos would do at least similar speeds in 2nd

much taller ratios in autos
the BA ford runs at 1900rpm at 100kph in 4th with the converter locked

Makes sense since the autos are only 4 speed and not 5.

240..
i said its interesting mainly because i was told (once very long ago) that most autos take of in 2nd gear(TC taking most of the gearing realy), and only use the actual 1st gear for low. and i honestly never heard of 158 in 2nd gear. not in modern cars. oldschool buics with actual 4 speed boxes (no overdrive) yes. but i have no idea. that sounds like a lot of fun

Took our Astina for a spin tonight after fixing the gearlever issue
it'll do 100kph in 2nd at 7000rpm
timed it and around 9 seconds to get to 100 shifting from 1st at 6500rpm

yes, it was 5th gear, when we reach 3rd gear, we can just step on the clutch once and direct go to 5th gear from 3rd gear, so there i save some time, my rpm usually around 2000 to 3000, hardly reach over 4000 mark in normal road
