Oil and water don't mix - except in a gearbox !

Changed the oil in my daughters recent BG buy (1990).

Looks like it has had water in the box at some stage bceause the oil is a milky green !

Anyone seen this before.

With new oil the change is much smoother although the clutch is on it's way out (even though NRMA said it was fine !)

Also noticed that the engine mounts are all cracked - anyone ever replaced them ?

Now just need to find a learning remote for the remote keyless

how did water get into your gearbox man? Ive never heard of that. it could just be that the gearbox oil hasnt been changed for a VERY LONG TIME. Check the driveshaft seals to see whether they are still in good condition.

water in gearbox = bad

i'd say it's just never been changed since it was built!

yeah, I know about the banana skin trick - it never actually worked. Just like the old wives tale about a drop of brasso down the intake to bed new rings in

Was definately water. I have seen this a few times but usually due to prolonged absence of oil change as said above combined with seal issues. Seals are fine.

The box is quiet as a mouse and shifts nice.

Will be watching it though
