Diagnostic port on a 1995 BA

Hey there people, I've been looking around for some info on diagnostic port for my 1995 BA. Is it OBD or OBD2 or a mazda specific system? I've been reading that OBD2 came around 1996 but some 1995 cars do have it. Any info would be very much appreciated... Thanks

have a look under the steering column of your car, its usually to the left hand side, should look like a plug. Let us know.

I don't think any of the CBA/BAs were OBD compliant - only the US BH/BHA Proteges

But the diagnosis plug is next to the fuse box in the engine bay of a BA

yes the only diagnostic port is mazda-specific and in the engine bay next to the fuse box.

The pinout is possibly printed under the lid

There is a small diagnosis box just above the fuse box. Can any of you guys recommend a diag tool for this kind of port?

yup thats the one I was talking about.

The diagnostic port gives numbered codes that indicate any errors. A mechanic should be able to read the errors for you or you can build your own 'reader' with a LED and resistor. Instructions may be on this site somewhere.

What exactly are you after ? You can get a lot of information just with a multimeter

Please don't use a digital meter it's easier to use a test light or analogue meter. I've seen a tool that will do the counting for you but it was several hundred dollars and it didn't just plug in.
And yes again that OBD and OBD II are U.S. standards and pretty much only found on U.S. sold cars.

my multimeter has an audible 'beep' for continuity and a tacho , dwell etc.
But yes if you don't have that - a test light and jumper wire does most things
