Wow that's a massive drop on the Mondeo!

I tried to find the reason for my dash lights not working at night. Not any of the fuses, not the boost gauge lighting that's tapped into the light wiring, and my high beam and low fuel lights are working....gah, i hate electrics.

damn cus i know my dash lights didnt work while the switch was unpluged. do your clock A/C lights work? i know u know this but they run of the dimmer as well as cluster. if they dont might be the power wire coming in to the switch. if the wire coming in to the switch has power, then it has to be the one from the switch to the dash... mayb the plug at the back of the dash came loose or if you recently took the dash appart mayb just the light wire got stretched or it might have cracked?? i wish i was more help lol im just stating the obvious here

Heh nah i pulled my dash out today to check. Checked all the plugs were in properly and that sort of thing, and all the connections were good. I'm wondering if something in the body computer has died again (as i've had mine repaired years ago as my interior light dimmer and roof lights stopped working).

does this help ?

http://astinagt.com/reference/BA/wir...ion_Lights.gif

( the battery positive is linked to (111) at the top )

do your tail lights work ? check the 'tail' fuse because both the tail/parking/number plate lights and the dash lights run off that fuse. According to the wiring book.

check for active current on the lights wires. The dash lights are negative triggered , which means that there should be a constant 12v on one of the wires. Probably the Red / black stripe.

In basic terms, it means that the order goes

Battery > Bulb > Switch > Ground

That will tell you if the problem is that they're not getting power, or whether its the switch that isnt working.

If the Tail fuse is ok but there isnt any power coming in ( check power at the fusebox as well ) , check a little 2-wire plug that goes into the "Combination Switch (light switch )" , which I presume is the headlight control arm. For some reason it goes through that - through the 'TNS' relay.

what does TNS stand for ?

Oh BTW I dont think the dash lights go through the body computer. They're independant to the interior lights.

probably a good idea to empty that out dude ... dont want your crank slapping around in it ... you could break something and it will be losing power!

as for me i finished installing the alarm and all the gauges, and also my new head unit / ipod adaptor. all that needs doing now is new tyres, change the brake fuild and she is right for rego ... woohoo

A bit more than "just"...

I think the best way of summing this up is "Make it right"....
