The only aftermarket lifters I've seen for Mazdas were from Autoexe and they don't do BA stuff any more (if they ever did).
Essentualy all your after is a pair of gas struts you should be able to easily adapt some from a hatch or wagon tailgate. Pop down to your local wreckers and see what you can find.

I'm currently in the process of finding the right set. I just finished a groupbuy on a set for the BJ. (which doesn't fit on the BA)
Going to test some things out and hopefully soon there'll be a bolt on set with adapter plates. I'll post it up here when I have more info. |

Today some little testing.
The plates are pretty much bolt on Made the measurements for the length of the lifters so now we're going to look for the right lifters for the BA hood. I used my BJ lifter to see if there was enough clearance, and there was. So on to finding the right lifter. I'll keep you updated. Some pictures of today( it was dark and my autofocus is broken so they look a bit cheesy) http://www.mazda-club.nl/fotos/hoodl...s_brackets.JPG http://www.mazda-club.nl/fotos/hoodl..._clearance.JPG http://www.mazda-club.nl/fotos/hoodl...attachment.JPG http://www.mazda-club.nl/fotos/hoodl...impression.JPG |

and they are on backwards, (so to speak.)
the bottom mounting point should be near the strut tops, the bonnet mounting point should be 40 cm or so from the bonnet hinge. use rear BA hatch lifters. and along the guard, attach them to the 2nd lot of bolts holding on the front guards. drill hole in side of bonnet frame same as rear hatch. and screw in ball joints from hatckh. ryan |

Do you mean the struts?
They're meant to be installed this way, just look at the autoexe's. Quote:
The ones that we're working on are bolt-on, no drilling required at all. Specs were send and still waiting for a result. |

A little update
We just tested the perfect lifters this afternoon as we got them in last week. They open the hood exactly as the regular stick would do. We also had a set which is a little shorter and opened the hood less. But its not really handy when you want to work under the bonnet. I'll keep you updated on the progress.
