50rms to each speaker is definately noticable...max youd realistically go (without goin for SQ comps) is about 100rms to each speaker...

pay no attention what so ever to peak power...only rms

when buying an amp only read the rms rating . peak power is a sales pitch .

thanx guys, i didnt expect a response so quickly. the rms ratings r 40w rms for all speakers, and the 2-ways have tweeters (not sure if that makes a difference)

you could get something like the us-audio USA554-220Z (http://www.us-audio.com/car/homeAmp.htm) - 4 x 50w + 1 x 220w to chuck a sub in the mix

Isn't it also important to look for a good SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) too? The higher the value (dB) the better there I understand...

thanx guys! have settled on a clarion apa450: 50Wx4 RMS. local stores have clarion, kenwood, sony etc. so i figured i might as well get more clarion gear (i also get a free hat ). i will also get around to getting the srv303. its a 120W sub with 120W amp in a tiny little box. we put them in suzuki swifts at work as an upgrade. is HEAPS better than it seems and it fits under the carpet!
