wiring help

i didnt know where to post this ...
do we need an 'Electronics' section for the forums ?

anyway.

looking in my wiring diagrams i find a wire that looks like this :

My guess is that this is a shielded wire ( wire surrounded by mesh, mesh is grounded ).

anyone know for certain ? and can i get this stuff from my local auto store or an electronics place instead

cheers !
Dave

My guess is it's a shielded cable and the shield is earthed to the -ve side of the battery. What does the wire do?

It is a shielded cable - you can tell as the --- is the ground (B/LG is not connected to the solid line, only the --- line) . Its the 02 sensor line from the ecu.

THe >> before the ground means its a harness ground, where as a straight ground symbol is a chassis ground. If ou look at page 9 of the wiring diagram or 610 of the 323gtx.co.uk pdf you will see the ground point (5) below the fuel rail on the back of the block.
