So, update...

I got sick & tired coating on paint stripper & scraping, so by chance my old man was getting some of my brothers boat bits sandblasted, so I got the wheels done as well. cost? Carton of XXXX... Winner!

Last couple nights between baby duties I have cleaned them up with wax & grease remover, gave them both 2 coats of primer. This arvo I got stuck into 2 rims, both wheels receiving 3 coats of Gunmetal Grey, so tomorrow will hit them with a couple coats of clear

Apart from the wheels, the list to do:

Buy tyres, get them mounted on the Enkei's
Find Enkei centre caps
Fit Cusco Coilovers (To be Shipped )
Fit Mazda 6 Front Brakes
Fit Cusco Lower tie bar

Hoping to have it all done within a couple weeks

All wheels are painted, 2 coats of colour, 3 coats of clear. Not bad for a home job

And next to the car:

Now to let them cure for a week or so, then to throw on the tyres

So last Thursday, this happened:

Followed by this:

Last night I went out with Ben & Alex and took some moar photos:

This morning I got to work and was greeted to a 34kg box:

Everyone suspected Aaron was in the box so I gave him some breathing holes & a drink

Got home, put the box in the garage and I came back and found that Aaron had got himself free, and left the box full of foam!

No, not really, they contained these beauties Cusco Vacanza adjustable Coilovers

Hopefully Sunday I can get them in nthe car, as I suspect my rear struts have let go, so really perfect timing!

So this morning I headed to my parents place and the old boy and I got stuck into the coilovers

20mins and both rear struts were out

Back in!

lower tie bar went in too

Done!

As per aaron's original specs, car sits about 5mm lower, but the ride is 200% better and hitting corners is just plain awesome!

Suspension setup = complete!

What is the ground clearance on the lower tie bar? Just for a ' if your game, i am' thing.
The rim paint job came up beautiful considering all of the angles/ edges and that. Very neat.

I would say its about 140mm off the ground, hasnt scraped "yet"

And cheers mate, a lot of blood sweat and tears went into those wheels, they may not be perfect, but I like them, and can say "I painted them"

lol... 140mm ???

on my MST's I was 90mm clearance. and gained some clearance later on with the oversized tyres on the Buddy Clubs.
Rear was around the 140mm mark I believe?

Jump under the car and measure... but its probably lower than you think

EDIT: Due to the location of the bar (almost in line with the axles) its pretty hard to scrape the tie bar. Its always the overhanging stuff from the axles (like front lip etc) that scrape.

that silly black plastic lip was my early warning/ detection device... you scrape that... your probably going to hit the tie bar rofl

...

I beached my tie bar once... due to a coupla wanktards parking me in allowing no swing angle

Its been 3 months since the last update, and there has been no changes apart from taking the subaru lip off, im getting old

I still take the odd photo of it still, this being the latest:

There is one small thing, after cleaning out the garage today, I found some centre caps from my j48 SP20 wheels, and thought I would see if they fit...and they do, just!

As I only have 3, Ive ordered a set off ebay and they should be here within a week or two, so will play around with the current ones, just to see what paint colour works best..

Apart from that, its been 20mths since FS-ZE went in back in June 2012, and have only managed to drive 13,000 in that time, I just dont drive the car no more, a tank of fuel lasts 3-4 weeks

You have a heap to update, do it after next week

Yeah, I like the height too, but am thinking of going down another 5-10mm, but I doubt I'll go through with it haha

Yeah, They are still in the hands of Luke, should pick them up one day. No point using them at the moment as the rotors on the front were only replaced a couple weeks before the motor went in, so plenty of meat still on them! Will probably track down some MPV rear calipers & Mazda 6 rotors as well

guessing the damages on the drviers side isn't fixed since that side of the car is hidden from view as always. maybe fix that before wheels and seats?

So on the weekend, I purchased front and rear seats out of an 05 WRX Sedan that a mates had since he sold his rexy, so I snatched these up Apart from a slight tear in the passenger seat, they are in pretty mint condition

The Tetris game I had to play to get it all in

All laid out

Passenger seat in:

Harry wanting to go for a joyride before I pulled the drivers out

Drivers seat in!

Pretty much all that needs doing to fit them is swap over seat belt anchor point, bend the front tabs slightly, and with some bodily twisting and turning, they bolt in

I also purchased the rear seat out of Kris/ice88's SP20, and plan on dying the grey fabric to match the fronts

Final Verdict: The seats sit about 15-20mm higher than stock seats (a little lower than when I had the autotechnica race seats on recaro rails) but the bolsters keep you firmly planted And with summer and boiling temps just around teh corner, I wont burn my ass like i did on the leather seats

Apart from that, nothings changed, checked the odometer yesterday and have done 16,400kms since the motor went in 2 years 4 months ago, I hardly drive the thing! Hopefully tomorrow night I will take some proper photos, but yeah you get the drill
