Nice work! I installed my mazdaspeed cat back but it is leaking because I didn't have the right gasket for the cat end. So it sounds awful. I'll hopefully get a new one shortly. I also washed it vacuumed it and added a strut brace, rotated the tyres too.

I remember that sound. Once I had that gasket fail, in same location. So went down to the auto shop to buy another. It end up not fitting but had already removed and destroyed the old gasket.

sS pulled the exhaust up and over the extractors and hooked the flanges on top of each other to hold it in place. Drove around with no cat or exhaust fitted to the headers for 2 days.

I loved the sound, too loud for everyday use though.

I've been looking for a gauge cluster for the ute, one with a tacho and today at about the eighth wreckers I found just what I was looking for and for more win points it had been removed intact and was sitting on the drivers seat. For maximum win points the tacho worked off the original wiring.
I also corrected the rubber pad on the clutch peddle.

I got a package today.

The air filter is for use until i can afford a carbon airbox to use with the backing plate i just received. There is also a tps, injector bungs, injector adaptors, throttle linkage and bracket, idle air (or MAP sensor) distribution valve stuff, most of the ancilliaries i will need for the itb install. The list is getting shorter..

Time to get busy.

My hydrographics kit came today. Now I just have to wait for nice weather on a day I'm not at work to get the job done.
Looking forward to having the burlwood treatment on the ute dash. If all goes well I may just go crazy on the 3.

I replaced the speedo cable on the ute this afternoon, the old one had come in contact with the exhaust and burnt almost all the way through. I'd forgotten the joys of speedo cables.
Once that was in I took it for a test drive and bought LED globes for the parking lights. Those and new lenses look much better so I've ordered new front indicator lenses to complete the look.

The last few days I have been busy with all the little stuff I need to do for my itb install. I modified the throttle cable firewall grommet by recessing a cable end swiped from the sst orig brake cable setup on my old haro bmx to thread the jenvey cable into the cabin.
I first flattened the face of the plastic grommet and then recessed the cable end in so its nice and neat. pics in my jenvey album, buggers wont link over here. I also got my throttle linkage built and installed.
Need a build thread badly.

Played with more brake bits. A few days ago I installed a gasket into the exhaust system and its awesomely quiet. At 80km/hr in 5th you cannot hear the motor over the tyre noise. At 100km its still quiet. Just loud and deep enough to get rid of the horrible tinny stock sound. I'll be stoked if my turbo one is similar in cabin noise (without sacrificing too much power)

Is that a good thing? :S I cleaned up the garage and pulled the last of my hard top apart got one side of the rear brakes together and lost half a bush somewhere hopefully it'll turn up tomorrow. Don't understand my clumsiness sometimes... Hoping to finish the rest of them and get the mechanical side of things tidied up.

Been getting more Lynx parts together with a few big orders in progress at the moment:
- The Toda outlet to replace the (drilled out) stock FPR on the rail.
- New rotors all round (The rears will need to be machined down to 276mm from 280mm to suit my setup
- New HPX Pads all round
- New Springs
- New bumpstops
- New Radiator

- Front undertray
- A-pillar trim
- Hatch trim
- Parcel shelf
- Driveshafts (spare set as Lynx ones are unique thanks to a slightly wider body)
- Roof Rails

Leaves me with the following to source before assembly and a trip to a certifying engineer:
- Brake lines
- Brake seals etc
- Clutch line
- Tyres and maybe wheels
- Windscreen (will be covered under my laid-up incsurance cover!)

And a whole bunch of work doing fiddly jobs like bolting in the ECU an re-doing intercooler mounts and airflow-meter mounting.

Got a little frustrated realising I was again supplied wrong parts... Anyway ill have what i need tomorrow hopefully. installed the AEM fuel pumo which was the most bolt on replacement I've ever used. Finally a job which was easier than expected. I'll have an exciting update tomorrow hopefully.

Some spec sheet (body repair manual perhaps?) lists the Lynx as having a wider track etc compared to the KJ. Admittedly at the time I paid little attention to whether this was wheel fitment or a slight bump in structure.

One of the shafts is interchangeable with BA/KJ and the other is unique. Part of that could be the diff-spline-count of the LSD and aftermarket shafts not having the "right" cross referencing in place. Not sure, either way it's a minor issue if you take shafts to be reco'd, and a major one if you order shafts in and sit them on shelf waiting for a chance to fit.

Id say its more diff related. K frame and control arms are the same as BA. So cannot think axles will be of different length. Something to research. But thinking spline count between lsd and non lsd is the same. More research.

That would be really convenient if they did match the length of ba shafts. When I picked up the gearbox and engine from wreckers they offered me a new boxed set of shafts that came with the lynx for $50. Fair bit cheaper than the new ones I enquired about.

Oh, I picked up my aeroflow FPR and a heap of fittings and other stuff and am currently stuffing it in the engine bay. I remove the pressed metal bracket spot welded to the strut tower that held the power steering reservoir iirc to mount a shiny chunk of beautiful machined alloy regulator.
Armed up for this long weekend.

They stuffed my order a bit and sent a 15psi guage instead of the 100psi one I asked for but otherwise all good.
