Question about Kart Boy bushings
just a question for those people who have kart boy bushings for their short shifter. I have B&m shifter machined down a further inch or so from the retail part for my BJ and I feel changing gears especially from 1st to 2nd rather a workout. So just wanna know the pro's and con's of the bushings from experience.
Does anyone know of anyone in Brisbane or it's sorrounds that would sell them or is corksport the only option. Been contemplating getting them for some time just wanna know if they are worth it. |

Shifting with the k4rtboy bushings make it ever soooo smoother.
But in saying that, on occasions, i still find shifting from 1 to 2 a bit hard. when i hop into a mates sp20 with twm SS with no bushings, his 1 to 2 shift is smooth and not hard. so i think its really down to pot luck! |

I have the bushs on mine
Pros-Much better feel of the selector gates -Tighter feel Cons-More sound tranfer from the gearbox when cruising at high speed -Buzzing sound in shifter if selector mech not adjusted correctly Note: The stereo at a low volume drowns out the sounds anyway. |

There is no correct answer to your question. If you could imagine a curve where the top apex is perfect, and rolling a little further off to the right is falling away from perfect, and the bottom on either side is total shiz. If you have a completely stock car and shifter and add the Karboy bushings, you might find your shift very precise and right near the top of the curve near the apex. Add the right shifter and you might land right on that apex, or overshoot it with the wrong one for your car.
The big problem is that cars are all different, and they respond to different things. Then you have engine mounts and inserts which can throw a spanner into the mix aswell... Lots of combinations that may or not work for you, I am still finding it difficult to decide what works well on mine with all of those combinations... Gav. |
