go home on the monday

all i have to do now is run again and get into the 14's as the ET cutoff for all of the classes is 14.99 (will be having 2 more test and tunes prior to jambo - on 27 august and 10 sept). entries close 2 september so i've gotta get into the 14's on the 27th of august. gotta get microtech by then to start off with!!!

****, if you can't get .235s out of the microtech and underdrive pulley something is seriously wrong! It doesn't look likely that I'll make the cut. You've got 100kW atw now, and even if I make it to just over 100kW atw it seems like a big ask to do a 14 still comparing your times...

dont forget your car's weight advantage, but see how you go.

i'm not so much concerned about not getting into the 14's once the engine is tuned, i'm concerned about getting the damn thing tuned!

ill see what we are doing, id like to enter in the comp but i dont know if i can yet, i dont think you should any trouble breaking into the 14s once you have your engine management as that is the key unlocking the untaped power that you currently have andrew. All the best mate

As for you Gav just get your mods on the car in time and work on your times, you never know what could happen, as said before the 1.8 is a good motor with alot of potential and im sure that you of all people will be the first person to fulfil it.

oh and dont forget gav you'll be able to rev to 8000rpm with relative safety. i cant go anymore than 7200 (7000 will be my street limit, 7200 at the track)

Christ 8000 rpm, when i do engine management the most id set my redline at would be 6900 or 7000 and have it tunned so that power comes on earlier on in the rev range as i have been in a current model celica with vvtli and it goes nicely but i dont like the idea of having a simular power band to those which rev to 7800 and only really come into their element at 5500 to 6000 rpm.

yeah 8000 for the 1.8's. that'd be the race rev limit, 7500 for the street

obviously breathability dependant. no point in going to 8k if you're loosing heaps of power up there or the valves are floating

Forgive my ignorance but it sounds like you and andrew are chasing alot more power than 100 to 110 kw at the wheels.

I thought about it the other night andrews 170 to 175 whp target is more than acheivable na if you were to look at nitrous oxide as that would pull you across the line and it can be done quiet safely. I remember reading in a hot4's mag where they hooked some zex nitrous oxide up to a ****y diahatsu that made 48kw at the wheels stock was running mid to high 18 1/4 mile times and after the zex application it was making 76 kw at wheels was running a mid to low 15 1/4 mile. Is Nitrous Oxide a path to consider for you guys chasing sky high na power.

Hey twiggy, if your confordent your car will run a 14, I don't see why you can't just enter it. I can't imagine having to povide a time slip at the gate. Even then I'll give you one of my low 14 sec passes. lol how are they going to proove it.

But then again, the practise might be good.

yeah it'll be a 14 second car for sure, the entry form just asks for a time. i guess i could put 14.9 and see what testing yields?

might even be able to get a bit of sponsorship out of it? dyson might chip in with a few bucks for some stickers on the windscreen etc and i know a tyre place that is coming up to jambo was interested in me "testing" a set of tyres they got for drag racing (dunlop - specifically for imports)

getting here on friday evening and leaving monday morning would be my minimum recommendation.

we are going to have to be up early on saturday and you guys and going ot be tired after driving all that way, and its always easier to get a few hours sleep before hitting the road.

brad if i was you i would hit the sack at 5pm sunday arvo, get up at midnight and do the longest drive to work you have ever done in your life you will be back by 8 or 9 no problems.

it doesnt matter if you are tired at work. if you are tired drving that causes big problems tho!
