Thumbs up GB: [AUS] OBX Stainless Steel Header - all BJ engines

Protege Garage are organising a group buy (10) for these headers and need 4 more people. They are now available for all engine sizes 1.6, 1.8 & 2.0.

The price is $209 + $35 USPS shipping = total $244 USD.
= $325 AUD approx.
You will not pay customs duty or gst for this, just the header straight to your door, no BS ! (unless you want it air freighted)

If you are interested, add your name to this list!

The OBX headers are fantastic, and offer very good bottom and mid range. Note that the 1.8s require a new midpipe and 2 of the 3 bung holes closed off.

just make sure that when the header is sent here that you have captain tosser say "claimable under AUSFTA" - makes sure that you dont pay customs.

thanks for the tip, but through the post it shouldnt taxed regardless.

OT - with the FTA in place though, is the customs duty abolishment the only advantage as far as these types of purchases go? guess customs declarations havent changed.

sabrelli I remember reading that on msprotege, what a PITA.
Why did that happen, did he not have stock or something?

it's just a safety thing. customs are wanks some times....actually most of the time.

the customs duties on car stuff is abolished yes, but not on a lot of other stuff. so gst is still applicable, sometimes a formal customs lodgement is required and sometimes quarantine inspection is required. there is no guarantee you wont pay anything when it arives. however, your chances are good.

I think Arden got stuffed around so much that he bought the AWRs instead and I ended up with his OBX when they finally arrived. *cough* $325 you say eh? Good price!
DVESTATE: Pacemaker get the best top end after AWR, so don't feel like you've missed out! I'd suggest getting them coated with something so they don't rust though...
I do like my OBX though, I have more power than stock across the entire rev range. My car feels like it has more bottom end than Andrew's car too. But mine is probably more linear than his and not so peaky up top...?

Yeah but you've got cams... I'm hoping after the exhaust cam goes in that my peek will break 6500rpm so that I have room to bring the power forward under 6500rpm on the cam gears, this'll give me phat power with the normal rev limit and hopefully reduce stress on the engine since it won't need to rev as high to make the power...

hey,
$35 for shipping?!? thats a bargain! don't be surprised if he comes back later and says he underestimated shipping costs, coz it actually costs around US$55 to send it via USPS surface mail.
yeah watch out for USPS... if they measure the box, and even if its 1" larger than the size restriction, then they'll return it to the sender... 3 weeks after it was posted!
make sure your seller measures the box exactly and that its within the restrictions. if not, get him to post it in a smaller box. otherwise you'll be waiting for your header for 2months like me...
but on a brighter note... it was well worth the trouble

$US35 is good shipping, me and others paid $US55

i cant even remember what caused the delay. got told so many things
cold123 had the most bad luck, his one got here later than mine, then because the box was too big or something, it got sent back to the captain. And then he had to put it in a smaller box or something and resend to him

ahh right cheers for the heads up, i'll make sure to confirm the box dimensions are correct!

Yeah I think the shipping is cheap because the $209 already has local US shipping included, so the $35 is the difference I guess?
