Ive gone to 17s and something a bit less bling - a classic 5 spoke, inset
http://www.gmaxwheels.com.au/catalogue1.php?id=M111 I was at a point where I desperately needed new tyres - and Ive been wanting to downsize ( for comfort mainly ) for a while now. The tyres have been almost slick. Then I found a 1cm gouge in the front passenger's tyre - all the way around, with frayed metal strands showing ! ouch ! So that came off and on went the spare. Then the back tyre got split. Its been regularly leaking slightly for ages. And the locknut got damaged by the key so I cant take it off. cant put it off any longer ! The boot on the left CV joint has been split for ages. Just in pieces now. And the coilovers have been gathering dust in their box for ... how long ? For tyres I went for Firenza. I think its the Firenza ST-03 I wanted something quiet with decent grip. I spend more time daily driving with my stereo than taking twisties - so noise was a priority. Will put up pics , the car goes in on Friday. All up, with the wheels, tyes, CVs, coilover fitting and balance/alignment etc its coming to around 2.5k Minus from that the trade-in of my current rims - maybe a few hundred ? Good choice Dave, I like nice simple wheels like those. G.Max are pretty $exxy though aren't they? Well, great choice, nice to see it's coming back together and we'll hopefully see it on the cruise

i'm with the wheel whore - i reckon you'd at least get $400 selling them privately.

myeh the chrome is peeling a bit.
anyway - an update The workshop calls me today. Says there are 2 problems ( after spending 2.5 hours trying to get the f##ked locknut off - including trying a chisel and also trying to weld another nut onto the bust one ) 1. One rear swaybar rod is bent - cant get a replacement until monday. 2. the wheels they received were in a box labelled 4-stud but contained the 5-stud models. The only 4-stud ones they can find are in Perth! Will be tuesday before they arrive. Other than the the CVs are going on and the coilovers are going on. I had the option of taking the car for the weekend but I cbf so I'll get it back on Tues. |
