well, i've had a pretty average week. i own two cars and neither of them go.

The VW dropped a valve last week, so thats been off the road for a few days. hopefully i get it back today, so i at least have transport...

And the Astina is being delayed left-right-and-centre. it's been at the auto elecs for the last week or so untouched (wiring up for the turbo conversion), and what has happened while it's been there? someone ran into it and damaged the front drivers quarter panel, and the bumper.

will i have it back this week? who knows... ??? [/colorost_uid0]

yeah it was one of the auto elecs customers and he's paying, so i'm not forking out for it. but al least it gives me the chance to get all the other dents and scratches fixed at the same time [/colorost_uid0]

Frustrating as hell mate.
Very few conversions go without hiccups but having
the car smashed into is a bit rough.
Just think of the big picture. Once its done the fun
you will have.

Fingers crossed for you that you have no more problems.

Regards

Mal[/colorost_uid1]

Sorry to hear Rupe - seems like one thing after another for you at the moment
At least you'll be able to get those dents and scratches fixed like you say ::
Hopefully you be back on the road sooner rather than later.[/colorost_uid0]

damn - that's gotta hurt. Hopefully it ends up cheaper that my last (thanks 4 your help Dan).

For those that are lost - I've always had trouble with my front right headlight staying in alignment. So while on holidays up on lake eildon I decided to re-align them again. I noticed that the reflectors did not look like they were sitting right, so I took out the assembly to find that both high and low beam reflectors had come off their mounts. Looking closer they had BROKEN off their mounts. $600 + from Mazda (no thanks) and no other wreckers/recyclers had any. Dan put me onto ozeparts.com.au who had non-gen 4 $198.

I rang dad to order them 4 me (no net while camping) and he told me he had a Ford/Mazda wreckers 400m from his work . Was told the non-gen lights are a bad idea as quite often they don't fit properly and the reflectors are usually ****, so $400 later I now have a new geniuine headlight assembly.

I also found it takes half an hour with stanly knife, gas burner and srewdriver to take the light apart. Now I have a full set of spare parts for BA Astina Hatch Right Headlight minus the reflectors.[/colorost_uid0]

Awww... that's gotta suck when that happens Daniel. Hope your car comes back soon! How bad is the the damage? Did you give the Steve a call in regards to quotes on panel repairs? Anyway, just think of when the car comes back, you'll be having all the fun you can have (driving of course! )[/colorost_uid0]

damage isnt too bad, still quite drivable. just a largish dent between the wheel arch and the headlight. i didn't notice any damage to the bumper myself, but it was up on a hoist when i looked at it.

but it's being done at a place across the road from Rank. as long as it's a good job, i'm not fussed, as i'm not paying for most of it...didn't call steve either - didnt really get a chance![/colorost_uid0]

ah well, at least i've got the vw back now - new 1500 that makes it sounds like a Superbug (bah) but is a lot quicker LOL

and the Astina is STILL untouched at the sparkys. :O starting to get really annoyed with them now... ???[/colorost_uid0]

Dan,

Be patient mate.... everybody who has heavily modified a car will tell you of their horror stories.. it is definately unfair and as a paying (plenty i'm assuming) customer, they are obligated to get your car back to you as soon as possible with quality workmanship... it is always the case with modifying cars... if we treated our customers like that at work, we'd be out of a job!

Can't wait to have a ride when the masterpiece is completed!

Just try and be patient!
