Iam currently looking at setting up a van or a ute as a mobile workshop ,to carry out more work on site. I would like to go over to NZ to chose all motors but I have to get passport organized ( what a rip off ) and flights and time off work plus get a pass out from the kids and wife.

i think we should do some sort of event for a 2 day turn around for one car. easily done when there are 10 people . that is if everything is ready to be put in.

also i've thought about it and i might be thinking of buying an engine package with you guys... i'll just have to think about it some more first.. not sure when my deadline is for this car

Gee going to be nice and cosy with 10 people working on one car.
Personally I would prefer to work by myself as ,to many hands on a car you get in the road of each other .
I was looking at in and out in one full day, can do em quick but I don't want to be tripping over people in the road ( and no distractions of people talking , hey Phil I just get in and do the job ) . I have got enough equipment in the shed I use to do all the motor swaps on the ground . Doing a swap on the ground is a lot quicker than on the hoist on a BJ.
Bit like Phil saying he would come to the wreakers on the weekend and help me get the box out but that was done in under a hour before he even got out of bed.

Two people is great, one holding tools and helping occasionally with lifting.

Got one last question bugging me, if the engines are being purchased in late March, when shall they be hitting aussie shores?

Any chance of slipping a straight neck klze in for victorian buyer?
Import monster wants 1600 for a curved, and no vic importers are returning calls.

As far as I know yes.
I most likely will be selecting the engines when I am in NZ next month hopefully.

We should have a get together with everyone who is interested in getting one so that we can talk about what's going to need to be done and also the costs that will be involved as I'm still a little unsure of what else i'll need to pay for apart from the engine, freight and installation. Obviously we'll need new oils, I'll probably need new leads, blah blah blah...

Plan on replacing the drive belts and cam belts.
I would consider the water pump depending on mileage of used engine.
If you plan on re using your 1.8 gear box you will be able to re use you clutch and existing engine mounts.
Also the 1.8 ECU will run the engine if you just want to change the engine first and do the wiring later on.
But yes it would be a great idea to catch up and talk crap about these engine swaps soon so everyone is up to date with whats happening.
