Talking Oliver's Amazing and Crazy Transformation!!

New plan: complete rebuild and turbo conversion, sound better?

This is all at the end of the year of course, gotta buy another car and settle some debts

All in the process gonna swap the interior for a grey one and sound deaden some areas, new carpet all around, custom made boot

I know this is long way away but I can't help but plan now

Comment as much as u like guys

buy a BG astina. theres a few of them converted to rwd around the world to varying degrees of successfulness. btw how many $$ have you got. ive spent close to 20K in wasted parts, rare bits from japan, motor build, insulation, etc. so far everything I've bought is plug and play aside from the ecu. so minimal $$ on stuff not fitting... so id hate to know what it'll cost in ill-fitting parts while trying to get this to work. of course it'll never be legal. clearly you have never been in a turbo, lsd, suspension, semi-slick equipped astina. its mental.

Hmm all very good points but I still wanna do it, gonna try and do it as cheap as possible. Could be legal if its engineered to the s**t house will have a bigg ol chat to the DOT.

No I haven't been in one, however I did race one around the lakeside raceway once in a mates R32 GTS-t, got him on takeoff and then he flew by and I never saw him again

TX3 4WD floorpan and rear subframe, NA MX5 LSD and gearbox.

The firewall room and engine height are going to be a problem though.

It seems like a challenge to keep Oliver on the road and not broken down like his normaly bi-weekly saga.

Sure you wanna take on another challenge like this? Buying a MX5 seems like an easier and less timely option.

Yeah that happens too often, he's never really been off the road for more than an afternoon, various things that are worn out and old and the fact I abuse the hell outta him (I know i shouldn't but being a hoon like im sure my father was at my age i enjoy it too much, but one has to have money to fix one's car)

Speaking of fixing the car, found a seal kit on eBay that does the tappet gasket, head gasket, some other small gaskets, dizzy o-ring and seal, valve seal and intake and exhaust gasket - $100ish including postage

As soon as I get paid gonna do a head rebuild as my valve seals be cactus

Yeah it would be easier but the more I think about cutting and welding, making it fit, fixing everything that is wrong with the thing It just makes me wanna do it more and more.

I will remind everyone again that this is at the start of next year when the rego runs out and only if I have another car

Will start by pulling absolutely everything off and cleaning it, then find a MX-5 wreck with some good bits and then start lining stuff up and seeing how it will work and wether its gonna work, then if its absolutely impossible to get it road legal (mod plated and engineered) probly rebuild everything and turbo it

I guess that since you are cutting up the chassis, it will be a massive up hill battle to get it legal.

tx3 or familia fuel tank. almost plug and play. no the hardest part of the build. lots of parts are interchangable between the bgs and bas, fwd and 4wd. just depends on weather you wanna lay down 10K plus and 1000s of hours of time.

Not worried about the work hours, lots of wreckers trips I think, 10k hmmm probly end up spending that probly more if I just did it up as a fwd, probly splurge and go for the turbo either way

Why not buy an mx5 and have fun hooning around! Costs less than 10k. Sorta wished I'd done this.

Huh I feel really stupid right now never even thought about that, I dunno lately I've just been wanting to make something. Hmm might just have to buy a BPT and completely rebuild the BA while I tear around in an MX-5, although project.r did say that earlier and I didn't even think about it then, I had my mind set on the conversion

First mod for the car is in the front end, gonna remove the parkers/indicators, fill in the hole, add angel eyes for parkers and orange led strips around the headlights for indicators

I think I will be sane on this.

First off NO COMMENT on any of it. no advice from me.

but I will say this. much like a woman said to me when I told her I have 3 testicles, so you get plenty of Tea flavour. She said it best. " I will believe that when I see it with my own eyes UP close and personal". barring the last bit. IS how I feel about this idea.

As a note on the Mx-5 . I drove a NB today again. F- you lot with small feet. I can drive a BA a KE, a polo. But an Mx-5 I still can't not get my feet to not jam on the pedals. Meaning a MX-5 Isn't always the answer

You can have a turbo 150kW MX5 for under $10K. Everything electrical is plug n play and will out handle hands down no matter the mods.

You can do a B6T 110kW MX5 for $7K if you are a little savvy. Cheap NA6 and second hand turo kit.

Even the exocet kit I posted in another thread will finish at $14K max if you find a wrecked donor car, 650kg car w/ 80kW. Add a turbo, madness is the limits.

Didnt take you long to change your mind about a BA RWD haha.

But it would have been cool to see a turbo'd RWD BA Astina

Yeah I know, can't afford an mx 5 though, might do it one day

Well I removed the intake yesterday and cleaned the iac and swapped an alternator and it no longer stalls, just has some idle issues due to various vacuum leaks and the intake gasket practically gone.

Gonna replace the clutch next weekend as its almost gone, slipping under takeoff and nearly every shift now, gasket kit will be ordered on the 28th, might do the rings at the same time if I'm rich enough and while I have the motor out ill do the front sway bar bushings
