sp20 climate control light

Just wondering if anyone has had the same problem.
When i turn my headlights on and the dash lights up the 3rd fan blowing position dial doesnt light up but when i tap it or give it a small whack the light comes on.... i have pulled it apart and played with the globe and plug for the globe plus cleaned the contacts but no luck.... help!
Any suggestions???

yeh looks like it might be the circuit board... so gay also there is a type of grease on the board where the dials are is this like to conduct electricity or something?

what the situation calls for depends on what type of grease is used.

There are conductive greases available (eg for RC car speed controllers)
and if the fan speed knob is used to mechanically switch between
contacts, then there's a fair chance that it's going to be conductive grease.

if it's a potentiometer type of control then the grease is some form of
lubricating/non-conductive and for some reason is causing an open
circuit between the contacts, when it should not be there.

if you're gonna pull it apart, take some close up pics. I could tell better
then what you're looking at.

Yes, the SP20 has climate control. It is something that separates from all the other 323 BJ 's. Not even the Special Edition protege came with climate control. That and electronic brake distribution (EBD) are the only two differences between the SP20 and SE.

SE20 also has black headlights, gay version mazdaspeed wing, gay interior trim taken from the anniversary BJ1 323, clear reverse lights (indicative of non J48), and probably no weather seal to the rear lip being a non J48 too. Oh, it should have black painted window pillars instead of vinyl covered ones too...

Gav.

This same thing has just happened to me today. I am going to go through and check all the wire connections and the like to eliminate those, but I suspect that the problem is prolly going to be in the control unit itself.

DVS, did you ever get this sorted? If so, what was the problem and how did you fix it?

Cheers.

that grease stuff i think is to ensure smooth tranistion of the knobs on the circuit board.

Nah its black plastic vinyl not painted. I like the black interior better in ours as it's tougher and not as cheap looking the grey stuff has stained and looks ratty in our friends SP20. Why anyone would ever put light coloured material in a door trim amazes me. The silver inserts are different as well, I think the SP20s version might be hardier, but its duller in colour and rougher. The EBD I would have liked but oh well and the CC is a none issue. Not sure about the weather seal-are you meaning between the bumper and the add-on bit, as there is a seal between those two.
