Roadworthy failure!
Now that the car runs good, I took her for a roadworthy test today and it failed on a few things that I never thought of it.
1- LH and RH strut tower cracked - 2- Rear engine mount worn - ok will replace that. 3- central muffler leak - ok... 4- Right rear tyre worn.... ok... 5- rear wiper worn - give me a break! 6- steering grip loose! ok I know it's loose, but I like it this way! Ok that's it! and it passed on all other things, quiet tough test tbh I'll start with the struts first, question is use spring compressor while the shock is in place (without taking them out) will I be able to replace the struts? or do I have to take the whole shock absorbers assembly out in order to change the top bit? Any suggestions folks... Cheers Walt |

when you say tower do you mean chassis? or strut tops?

your strut tops have a nut holding them onto the shock so yes you will have to take them out. you will need spring compressors or if you go ghetto cables ties and a strong mate. you might find the shocks need replacing if they been in there a while

undo the nuts on the chassis to strut top to get whole shock out... rattle the topnut on and off springs are compressed so don't lose a limb

Cheers Cosmo Dude, appreciate it mate. I did a bit of shopping today, I got myself as a treat (lol) a steering wheel cover which was half price from Super Cheap ($12) it just needs that tbh. Centre muffler << I'll hold you on that mate cheers. But let's sort out the main issue which I came across today. How on earth do I change the rear engine mount?? I got this new mount which has three holes for (presumably bolts) and one in the centre, for the life of me, I can't see or even touch the three bolts/nuts that the mount is sitting on. I can see the big bolt which goes through the rubber bit. So I am stuck lads. any help much appreciated |
