Bj Astina. You're not stuck with the 'i couldn't afford a WRX' tag then. And when you modify them, well...they look like a WRX. At least a BJ is a bit different!

Well, neither the BJ or the Impreza is going to have great straight line speed - unless you get a WRX or turbo the BJ (which would be more than $5k).
But at least with some decent suspension mods (which wont cost too much and are easy to install) the BJ is a proven to be fun on the twisties. |

depends on what you regard as "fun on twisties"

or buy a 95-98 impreza wrx (don't know how much they go for, do know an rx is 5-8k) faster, look tougher and are probably cheaper in parts not to mention the large amount of after market stuff

personally i would get a cheap but nice/fun runabout cough (BA) and save (plus some if possible) the rest for when your off you're p's cough (rx7) - assuming u don't have do an hazard perception test - i took it last week and failed cause i did it seriously, apparently cause the videos so bad u just press the screen as soon as it starts, or for taking gaps don't press at all

as spenaroo said, 95-98 rexy. no competition. faster, corners harder and way more aftermarket support. my fav rex

I've driven the 2.0 Rx 2001+ model and its lacklustre to say the least. If you want something that is balanced, light and a hoot to drive without getting into too much trouble and with a massive parts support. GET A HONDA... EK9 civic... do it JDM. focus on your suspension and chassis work and they handle like hell. keep it JDM styled and stay away from the bling crowd though. Also make sure you pack it with J's racing parts screw mugen!
