BA 1.8L Front Swaybar Bush Size?

I've got some Nolathane front swaybar bushes sitting on my desk - p/n 42964. They were about $20 or so from memory.

Hehe yeah, mine have been sitting there for over a year now. but there's now way i'm doing that until the engine comes out!

I don't plan on removing the engine again any time soon.

I'll just remove the steering rack and access the shackles via the wheel wells.

Just been looking at the Nolathane website. I think I'll get one of everything for a BA.

Although I find it weird that there are no control arm bushes available?

Yep - I run a combo of Nolathane & SuperPro offset bushes for the front. I ordered 2 sets at the time, but the other person pulled out. Still for sale if you want them?

What did you find for the rear? I enquired about doing the rear approx 1 month ago and found that I could only get a bush for the trailing arm from memory...

Just picked up mine. Both came with a slit in them. Repco dude says it's to slip the bush over the bar when installing. Correct?

Rupe - here's your simple guide to changing the front swaybar bushes

1. Remove Engine from car
2. Unbolt steering rack from the front subframe - 4 bolts. Virtually impossible without a hoist, engine brace/crane and alot of cursing - otherwise refer to step 1
3. Place jack under front subframe to support weight
4. Unbolt front subframe - 6 bolts (2 each side at the rear + 1 each side at the front)
5. Lower jack to drop the front subframe 6" down to reveal the front swaybar shackles. Use a crowbar to loose the frame.
6. Replace front swaybar D bushes
7. Have several beers
8. Re-install in reverse order.

With the engine already removed from my car, front wheels off, front end support on stands, and rattle gun at the ready, it took approx 1.5 hours to remove-fit-reinstall

are these generally buggered in our cars now? mines developing some rather nasty clunks from what i expect to be worn bushes everywhere...

mine was clunking when turning on uneven surfaces, and could feel the thud in my foot when it was resting on the floor.

take was the reason i went looking for a fault. thought it would be the end links, ended up being the bushes.

if you take the wheels off, you can see them underneth the steering rack. my passenger one had torn in 2 and slide sideways and out of the D bracket.

I had look into some of my old astina stuff on sunday after - someone mentioned easy install of bushes for BA.

Looks like I did put in a set up front on my old BA must have to match rear bar. But I don't remember putting them in. But it would of been done when I did eibachs kybs and rear bar combo. So I don't think engine removal is really important its just plain easier.

they do get worn quicker in BA due to the desgin of the suspension.

other cars will use end-links more so. Just depends on desgin and if you do change some geometry on the suspension you can either make it wear quicker or slower.
