they dont have to exactly write it on the spot.
and 40 over the limit is a speeding + a dangerous driving fine AFAIK with a suspension |

Less than 13 kilometres per hour (km/h) over the speed limit:
A$133 + one demerit point. At least 13 km/h but not more than 20 km/h over the speed limit: A$200 + three demerit points. More than 20 km/h but not more than 30 km/h over the speed limit: A$333 + four demerit points. More than 30 km/h but not more than 40 km/h over the speed limit: A$466 + six demerit points. More than 40 km/h over the speed limit: A$933 + eight demerit points and six month suspension. http://www.tmr.qld.gov.au/Safety/Dri...it-points.aspx 5 Years ago when I got done for 142km/h down the M1 I was fined $350 & lost 6 points, so automatically had lost my P's and went on 1 point good behaviour...

If they dont give you a fine its not coming.
The 1st thing your friend should have said was "Officer, can you show me the speed I was doing?" You never open yourself up to implicating yourself, even if you were speeding. I got pulled over for "driving recklessly & and alleged speeding" In the end we decided that me overtaking a truck on the left because he was doing 80 in a 100km zone in the right hand lane was OK and he couldn't prove my speed...I wasn't speeding. I wasnt being a dick but for 10 minutes he was calling me a little liar and smartass...Im only really the second 1... I have been told to expect things in the mail before, all I ever got was JBHIFI calalogues. Oh and chicaboo. Bourbs cant speed, the Mini is grandma limited. But he is the only Queenslander I know of that does indicate all the time.
