When you say door frame is it the frame of the door or the frame around the door? The BA leaks onto the door sill but that doesn't come through the door (the drain holes are further out).

yeh a small amount should be able to come down inside the door.

the original speakers have a plastic shield over them that could be re-used fairly easily.

dogo, the original speakers for the BA are 5x7 ? might not work too well on the 6inch alpines....

i've heard of people taking milk containers and cutting a strip to stick on the top end of the speaker?

i'd be checking the clear plastic door inserts that are stuck on with tar, as mentioned above

who mentioned that?

that clear sheet would only stop water from getting to the door panels themselves (as in the thing you see on the inside??)

But the drain holes don't open onto the scuff plates.

dont they ?

oh yeh maybe the outside edge of the scuff plates.

if you havnt cut the original holes the 5x7 water shield should fit the 6" speaker. I have my 6" speakers in the original 5" hole, moved out slightly on a wooden baffle.

but yeh anything will do, cut up an ice cream container even for a cheap option.

Looking at the picture below the door has two seals, one on the ridge of the scuff plate and one at the lower lip where the body work goes from horizontal to vertical. The drain holes open to this verticle section which is below the scuff plate.
Any water on the scuff plate didn't come through the doors past the speaker. If I had a speaker fail and I saw water there then I would be following that source first but it's a red herring.

expanda foam sounds good, or silicone, but you'll be silconing the window shut if you want it to stop having water through it!!!
