Yes it's possible to remove the turbo from a BPT engine, but you'll need all the NA stuff to replace anything turbo-specifc, like the exhaust/manifol/intake etc

The question is, why?

if you are after running a bp(minus the t) for the remainder of your P plates i suggest you forget about it. bpt has low compression and without the turbo to cram more air in there the engine will run like crap, with no power, spending too much fuel..

thanx all

well i am doing this because i couldn't pass the emission test with stock computer or a HALTECH PLATINUM SPORT 1000 KIT so i can get engineering certificate and then the blue slip. the end product is to remove turbo or juts change the engine . so if i go with engine swap what is there to be changed ??

If you couldn't get your tune redone and pass it with the Haltech, then your tuner is at fault.

Is it the stock turbo?
what mods have you got?
exhaust, FMIC, intake, cams?
which ecu are you running? Aus Spec or Jap
if the tuner couldn't get it to pass EPA standards then as rupe said
that is a fault with the tuner

My recommendation - take the car to race solutions in penrith,
get in contact with "the hitman"
He is a god with haltechs,
I think he's made babies with them?
if he can't get it to pass emissions law.. then you can pretty much bet that it would be impossible to pass.

go and see Joe DiGiorgio at Hi-Comp Performance Engines and Tuning at Minchinbury (Near Blacktown) (02) 9677 0505

He is tunes most brands of ecu.

He's tuned a few of my cars and they have always passed emissions at penrith rta.

Powertune gave up?...those guys are pretty good at what they do (as far as SR's go)

Go to Indy at IS Motorsports, tell him to get the car street legal (emissions wise) and he will!...
