today my battry went dead and the immoberlizer turned on!!
the NRMA guy got the car started but now the alarm (keyless entry) wont work and luckly the alarm isnt going active after 1min... like it normally would. if i unplug the power the alarm goes ape but turns off when repluged... is it time for a new system??? i am about 99% sure it is a stock mazda one it says mazda on it. the car is a astina BA S3 hatch if i need a new one any sugestions on a brand???? or should i get a new mazda one?? |

S3 Lantis BAs never came with an immobilizer or keyless entry in OZ. only central locking. if you have any of these then it will be a aftermarket system.
you system just need to be reset as it sounds like it has a low-voltage tampering device/plug-in to stop battery theft. if you have the booklet, (which i doubt otherwise you wouldn't be asking.) then that would be a good place to start. or go to a auto electrician or see if they can fix/solve the problem of yours or install a new one. |

u sure at home i got a cert that came with the car it is cardboard and from mazda...
it reads MAZDA 323 remote control car alarm congratulations on the purchase of your new state of the art MAZDA car alarm. blah blah blah and then down the botom it says ... for detailed informaition on the operation of the alarm system, please refer to the operating instructions which have been placed in the glove box for your convenience... i got the car off mum and she got it brand new... she said she never installed an alarm on it. this cert was stuck to the rear veiw mirror when the car was purchast from mazda. and no suprize she has lost the keys and the manual for it lol . |

I'm not sure if they were made for the BA's, but Mazda dealers do have an alarm that will slot in with the stock electronics (keyfob for central locking). You'll need to talk to your local dealer and hope they know a bit about it, some that I've talked to dont have a clue. I've never been able to find much information about their options so I went for a decent aftermarket unit.
