Question bout my Gearbox

alrighty peoples =D i got my typical Question to ask..

Ok since i got my 1997 Hardtop 1.8ltr astina ... ive had this whistle noise...like a disk pad whistle... but it aint brakes..

Now... the whistle stops when i touch the clutch softly... like just moving in the pedal like a mil..

the whistle stops...

ok... so what could this be ... obviously its gotto be clutch...

So is there a way i can adjust the pedal... cause its really annoying when next to a wall and idleing.. you gotto keep foot lightly on pedal..

So yeh any thoughts

i'd bet it's your thrust bearing, not the clutch (as i had the same problem with my first gearbox)

it's a gearbox-out job, but you could replace it yourself with ease if you're mechanically minded, as it just sits behind the clutch fork in the bellhouse (not inside the gearbox itself)

adjusting the pedal would probably cause premature clutch wear, as it would simulate you "riding" the clutch.
wimen tend to be good at this!!!

i suggest you get your clutch changed at the same time, save you $$ later on. Get a whole clutch kit, comes with the bearing as well.
