lol, that's not good. Someone give this man some help! If you're talking from inside the car then the white bit should go on the bottom and the spring thing on top, if that helps at all.

sorry man i didnt have a spring newhere on my shifter. i had the white bit that went around the ball and that had two black rubber rings.
