KZ-FE auto to manual

Hi,

Is it possible to convert an auto Mazda Lantis 2.0 litre V6 to a manual without much trouble? ie. are the manual and auto gearbox dimensionally identical?

It's not a lot of trouble as the parts to do it are existing ones that you can get off the shelf of course, but you'll most likely need:

- gearbox
- clutch + flywheel
- driveshafts
- clutch line
- front and gearbox engine mounts (only maybes on those)

would you need a new centre console? wouldnt the auto be diff from manual.

so far:
- gearbox
- clutch + flywheel
- driveshafts
- clutch line
- front and gearbox engine mounts (only maybes on those)
- Shift linkages
- Manual ECU and loom (maybe)
- Brake and clutch pedals
- Clutch master cylinder
- Gear knob
- centre console (maybe)

what about the tubing that runs from the clutch/power steering (i think its power steering) fluid reservoir in the engine bay to the clutch? is that the clutch line rup mentioned?

I've done many similar -

on some cars it's easier others it's not.

Easiers way get front cut and all parts are there.

on some enignes you find things like auto's have larger fans and extra sensors and when they are not pluged in etc you cna have trouble.
Big probolem is AT-ECU is in the engine ECU and on some other cars linked

So full lom is needed along with pedal box - interior bits braces etc

also engine plate covers little things here and there even on some engines different starter motor mounts.

Not all apply to KF's -

This is why I say car is worth bugger all Sell it get a manual save tiem and money

The propblem with a conversion is that chances are it will never be perfect.

You'll always be chasing your tail even when its complete trying to fix loose bits and pieces, attemption to make it just right. The clutch will be a pain to set just right and seeing as how it runs the same fluid and line as your brakes, it isn't something that you wanna mess up.

Its harsh but a manula car is probably the solution. Buy a car with a shot V6 engine and do a swap. Its heaps easier. Besides it will leave you with heaps of spare parts ect. you can keep or sell them here and make a bit of money.
