Smile 'Belle' - Matt's SP20

This evening marks the end of my interior lighting install, and thus it is time to start logging my work. Pretty much every saturday during the day is car mod / maintenance time for me.. So I'll be aiming to update my worklog once a week.

Engine
  • Stock as a rock.
  • … Besides the modified stock intake

Interior
  • Map lights converted to LED
  • Glovebox globe replaced with LED
  • Custom footwell lighting - Red LED strip
  • Custom oh-crap-I've-been-pulled-over-and-don't-want-to-draw-attention killswitch for the footwell lighting (Hidden under dash)

Exterior
  • Personalised white-on-red number plates
  • Number plate globes replaced with superbright white LEDs

Audio
  • Sony 2-ways in front doors
  • Stock speakers in rear doors
  • 12" Pioneer sub in ported box
  • Audioline monoblock amp
  • JVC head unit - iPod connectivity

Wishlist
  • Full aftermarket exhaust
  • 17" Advanti rims, 5-spoke black with polished lip
  • Clear side indicators because FAR OUT OCD THE YELLOW ANNOYS ME
  • Something to satisfy the voices that tell me to install a turbo.

Just an idea... Personally hate footwell lighting being wired to a separate switch, and always on.

Best idea would have been to wire them up to the power supply for the interior / dome light. That would actually make them legal. As they would only turn on when you open your doors. And if you want them on to find something you dropped... Just turn the dome light on and it will all light up
Much neater install.

Anyway... Anyway as above... Hope to see you at some of the upcoming agt events. Even come out to Penrith in a couple of weekends time for a cruise and a dinner (welcome just to come for the cruise).
Then like all the other guys.. I can also convince you to spend all of your money with some of my awesome ideas

Oh... But those rims ^^^^ they are nice

I'm actually liking this idea better than what I have done so far ... Any idea how I'd get into the dome light circuit ? Running cable to the footwell from the dome light seems a bit excessive. I haven't had much of a look at the electrics of the SP20.

Well you run much larger cables from your head unit to your amp/ sub.
Just use some speaker wire from the dome through the roof lining, down the A pillar into footwell. Then parallel the lights off that.
You can do it dodgy and wrap the wires around the contacts where the light goes. Or can solder them into the wires that plug into the dome

Going to need long wheel nuts .. stock nuts would technically fit, if you had an impossibly thin tire iron.

Tell me something on here is going to fit ... Making this happen over lunch tomorrow would make me a happy camper.

What I got up to today ..

New (to me) toys from Matt... Spent a bit of time cleaning them up.

Swapped one wheel over to take a photo. I reckon she's going to look great

Got a photo of the footwell LEDs. I reckon they're a bit bright.. Probably solving this with a PWM board from jaycar.
