Ba Ht Fog Light Wiring

Hi Guys,

The saga continues, have come to install the fog lights into the Hardtop now that I have all the required parts to find that the plugs on the lights and the car are incompatible. So before I rewire them I thought I would just check to see if I am missing something bloody obvious.

Have attached two jpgs showing the car connector which has a black wire and a blue with white stripe wire. The other is the light which has a red wire and a black wire. Also both the plugs look like the are female. So could someone (please) have a look and/or take a photo of their fog light wiring connections. Also does anyone have a wiring diagram for the fog lights

For reference my car is a 1998 BA 1.8L Hardtop

Cheers in advance

Christopher

Here ya go
I just scanned this from the wiring diagrams :

http://www.astinagt.com/reference/BA...Fog_Lights.jpg

There's also another page that I didnt scan. It shows the wiring route and the locations of things. Mostly pretty obvious. The fog light relay should be against the wall to the left of the passengers footwell. The middle of 3 apparently ? They might be missing if you didnt have the optional extras. I believe the airbag controller isalso there ( if you have them ) so be careful.

not relevant to you but interesting,

it shows that the v6 ( KF ) engine computer recieves a signal when the fog lights are on.

odd !

maybe it compensates for power drain.

Cut the plugs off and join the wires. It doesn't need to be overly complicated.

They are lights, it doesn't matter which way 'rond the wires go.

true that.

They'll need to be weather proof so be sure to use solder and heat shrink to seal them.

Thanks Dogo and Cosmo,

Expected that I would have to rewire them but it never hurts to check first. Diagram is useful as it has confirmed I am looking at the right plugs on the car. I have bought myself some proper weather proof electrical connections which I will use.

Cheers Chris

The difference comes from the year your car was build. There are two types of fog lites... Clear ones and fuzzy ones... In Germany the difference between both series (in fact there are 4 differenz production series of the Astina BA) is more obvious:
