Nice wheels on the old car, pity about the Camry parts.
Great choice on the new new car!

Hey,

Like the SR2's and with very low k's

Sad about the camry looks nice with a bodykit but dont like the front bar of the kit - but anything is better than it standard - lol

Did you ever find it ?

here a blue sp20 with the mps wheels painted black maybe personally looks better than the rx8 wheels but everyone has different taste i guess

I did recover the camry but it was just a shell lucky I had insurance and as for wheels don't like the look of those mps wheels on that blue sp20 it might just be the picture but not my taste I think either the mps/rx8 wheels in the pictures above will be the way to go
lucky I work in a tyre shop so I can test fit and see how the wheels will look b4 i buy them hopefully new wheels in the coming weeks

Those RX8 wheels look really nice, but it depends on what kind of look you're going for i suppose

I researched after market intakes for quite a while before i decided to avoid engine modifications for the time being

You need to make sure the intake is a two piece design, with a gap in the pipes for the MAF, any kit designed for the SP20/Protege 5 should fit the SR2 no problem, but if it doesn't i'm sure it would only be minor modifications to get it to work

I was looking at the Injen CAI kit, Part no. RD6060, although i was a little worried about sucking up water with the Injen as the piping brings the filter right down in front of the wheel well, Got a quote locally from JDMyard for $400 + freight and even they had to bring it into Australia, it would most definitely be cheaper to buy off Ebay.

Also looked at the AEM short ram, Part no. 22-481, i would'eve most likely gotten this one as the filter will sit right above the hole where the resonator would sit, could'eve banged up a stainless steel heat shield at work for free also.

The Injen is better in a performance sense, but living in queensland with a lowered car you can never be too sure, ive already driven over water nearly up to the door sills and that was before it was lowered, AEM does sell pretty cool Air Bypass Valves (http://www.aemintakes.com/air_bypass_valve.htm) that appear to work well, as well as "water resistant" pre-filters. As far as i am aware the bypass valve will fit any CAI assuming you have the correct size valve for the piping.

If it was me though, id get the AEM.

Hope this helps

I also printed out the installation instructions (http://www.aemintakes.com/instructio...2-481_inst.pdf) for the AEM short ram (2001 Mazda Protege) and compared the photos/descriptions to my actual engine bay and from what i could see it was all the same.

It would be interesting to know what kit you were looking at for only $100?
