96 BA GearBox Blown
Hey guys, i've finally blown my gearbox and i just wondering on what to do, either get it rebuilt or get a secondhand one, if i have to get a secondhand one which one would i be after and roughly how much would i expect to pay?

Symptoms? 3rd gear or crunching in all gears? Or a big fat hole in the casing? Secondhand it'll be around $450-500 for an F Series. You'll probably have to look around a bit to get that price, but it's better than $1000 than Mazford will probably want. Rebuild will be about double that plus.

No 2nd, 4th & reverse gears i try to put it and gear and it would budge like there's something stoping it.

you can buy mine! it only needs a diff hopefully....
still i don't understand whats in gearboxes.... mine is an F25MR dunna if it will mate or not how to get it out? buggered if i know

Actually, it might not be the box.
Get under your car, and look at the selector bushes that are inside the gear selecotr shaft that runs from the bottom of the gear level to the box. Check the bushes in each end and on both the solid brace and the actual selector. I suspect one of them has gone and is you're not able to get enough movement from the gear selector If not, it could be a bent selector fork inside the box. But i reckon it's the first option.

Thx guys gonna ask a guy to have a look at it, he's a friend so he'll let me know whats wrong with it and what i need, was just hoping that it wasn't something major.
