"popping noise" when turing steering wheel ???

Guys …my 97 BA astina 1.8Ltr…makes a “popping” kind of noise when I turn the steering wheel left to right or right to left while idling. The noise seems to be coming from the intake or TB area. If I turn the steering wheel while revving the engine a bit, then there is no noise. Any idea what might be happening ??

Cheers :-)

have you driven over some bubble wrap recently ?

Maybe get someone to stand over the bonnet while you turn the wheel and work out exactly whats making the noise. Avoid doing it too much on concrete through coz you'll start to wear flat spots on your tyres after a while.

I think it could be a physical knocking or the additional engine load is causing bad combustion.

nope....no bubble warp...the noise been there for couple of weeks now. I'll get someone to turn the wheel and try to locate the exact place where the noise is coming from

Hmm, still got the standard resonator before the K&N?

As usually the popping noise is a common symptom of having a pod

thanks for the link.....yep....every thing is stock....no mods at all except for the panel filter......, it may be the IAC valve not opening enough when applied a sudden load on the engine ?
