My understanding is that all cars that ZE engines were had an auto gearbox - I guess that would mean that all ZE ecu's would be auto.

To my knowledge, no-one is using a ZE ecu with their engine swap - they are using a mix of FP and FS ecu's, generally depending on what type of car they had to begin with.

There is only one car in Australia that has been swapped to the ZE ECU and ZE engine and the loom requires a bit of modification to fit. (BTW I am running a MSF ECU loom and dash with my ZE)
The ECU used in the MSF was exactly the same ECU as was used in the 4WD Manual Sport 20 sold in Japan.
Also good luck in getting the wiring diagrams for the ZE and Australian SP20 or 1.8 as I had a bitch of a job getting them.

Redline is 7k not 7200.

Hoping to use the ZE ecu on my current FS engine and then on the new motor till the adaptronic goes in.

Ohwell better than 6,500.
I'm going to see pop at mazda on Tuesday and get all wiring diagrams and stuff like that, should be pretty easy to obtain.
If anyone has any diagrams/info/any thing to help, it would be greatly appreciated

Looking closely at my dash I see the redline marked at 7200 and the cutout is also at 7200 RPM as my car does rev well past 7000. It gets to 107 KPH in 2nd gear.
I will get an accurate electronic rev counter of some kind to confirm this.

The modification that I did on Phil's car with regards to the wiring and the diagrams in japanise that I had converted to English I am keeping to myself . The time I spent on this to get Phil's car unique Iam not keen on giving out as I spent ALOT of hours comparing diagrams .
When I wired Phil's car to the ZE ECU there are a lot of changes to make the ZE ECU work in an aust 1.8 car ---- easy swap into a 2.0 aust model = replace motor and run aust ECU as the car will run fine ( only rev cut will be lower )
Phil's car rev cuts higher than 7 as well - as I have driven ( thrashed ) that car every time I work on it
