Shopping:

As per original plan, we're making a quick trip across the road to either coles or woolworths to buy food for:

Thurs night BBQ goodness,

breakfast Fri morning (alternatively you can get Macca's which is also across the road, it's easy and everyone can have what they want),

snacks for travelling (please remember that service stations and Macca's will be open for cold drinks and junk food)

dinner Friday night and

last but not least, breakfast on Saturday morning

We're thinking of keeping things simple. Once we have done the shopping, we'll let everyone know how much to chip in for the essentials.
If anyone wants anything fancy, I suggest leaving that up to the individual.

And, of course, don't forget drinky poo's

Cruising:

Saturday 7th April
Hills to Sea Cruise
Aaron has set out the following plan for the Hills to Sea cruise
From Dorrigo we're going to follow the mountain range down to the lower ranges behind Coffs Harbour,
It's a good twisty stint and should be both scenic (sub tropical forest) and sealed roads.

We're heading for Coramba, then Nana Glen to grab a drink at the local store.
If we're Lucky Russell Crowe may be around.

We'll then sweep up further into the hills to Glenreagh.
It's a quick return trip with a nice flow to the road and typical of the roads in the region.

On the return we'll skirt around Nana Glens North side (and link to the Bucca Rd)
which Google Maps can't correctly link up.
This will descend down to sea level again a nice flowing road, not to tight and nice and open.
We'll join the Pacific Highway and "commute" down to Korora where we'll climb up to Bruxner Park lookout.
This is a rough and fairly tight climb through one of the richest banana growing regions and will take us
up to a lookout overlooking Coffs Harbour.

We'll leave there, descending to the Pacific Highway once more and quickly arriving at the Big Banana.
Pics and fun in the tacky gift shop are a must.
The Banana Smoothies are also pretty good.
There is a tourist train thing, but honestly hanging out at the bottom of the hill is a cool idea.
If you want you can go skiing too (there's a snow ski slope).

From the Big Banana I'll lead you through the coastal suburbs and along the waterfront roads to the Coffs Harbour Jetty.
We'll either check out the Marina and Muttonbird Island, or just the Jetty and the Beach. (Google Map is the basic route).

I need to confirm the opening hours of the Supermarkets at Toormina (Stocking up for Saturday nights Party)
and we may cruise south through Sawtell (a couple of nice headlands/lookouts) do some shopping,
then return to Coffs harbour to pick up Kitty when her plane lands late in the afternoon.

Once Kitty is secured we'll jump into a quick commute along the Pacific Highway down to Urunga and
climb up through Bellingen and onward to Dorrigo and a night of fun...

Sunday 8th April
EASTER - Egg hunt?
Waterfalls Cruise

Newman has set out the following plan for the waterfall cruise

1. Dangar Falls;
This is like a stones throw from the center of dorrigo so it makes it a good starting point.
Good photo opportunity.

Then head EAST along the Waterfall Way towards Ebor, there are a few little rest areas with nice views on the way.

Dangar Falls to Ebor Falls, approx 36 minutes.

2. Ebor Falls;
This is a pretty grand water fall, its split over 2 falls
The walk down to the 2nd fall is about a 1km walk
The upper falls is about about a 50m walk
It's about 300m off the highway (Fully Sealed Road)

Ebor Falls to New England National Park, approx 30 mins (Total travel time tally: 1hr 6mins)

3. New England National Park and Point Lookout
This look out is absolutly breath taking, the views are incredible and you can see right down to the Pacific Ocean and beyond.
There is a good chance of dirt road at this point.
It is approx 20km from the highway to the lookout (hopefully the dirt is not the whole 20km).
The lookout is only about a 100m walk.

Ebor to Wollonombi Falls, approx 26 mins (Total travel time tally: 1hr 32mins)

4. Wollonombi Falls/Gorge;
This Gorge is simply breathtaking! The sheer size of the Gorge is stunning.
The road to the gorge is about 1-2 kms, there is a fjord/dip in the road that some of the lower cars WILL have to slow down for, but newman's car has had no worries at all.
Wollonombi Falls also have a couple of BBQ's right at the car park.
Potentially, we will have lunch there

This is a high res photo newman took
Wollomombi Gorge

Wollomonbi to Metz, approx 25 mins

5. Metz Gorge/Bakers Creek;
A viewing platform is on the western side of the gorge, and the historic town of Hillgrove is on the eastern side.
Hillgrove is the biggest gold mine in NSW & its quite unique (Newman can give us information while we are there)
Apparently, there is a little bit of dirt (hopefully its not much).

Metz to Danger, approx 30 mins (Total travel time tally: 2hr 2mins)

6. Dangar Falls;
There is a Dangar Falls at Dorrigo and there is a Dangar Falls at Armidale.
newman hasn't been to these falls personally.
Its about 20mins from the highway (and about 5 mins of dirt we hope!)

At this point, we can head to Armidale and do a big loop back to Dorrigo, or do a U turn and head back for sore heads, relaxation, r/c car racing and spending time with people

Dangar Falls to Armidale, approx 25 mins (Total travel time tally: 2hr 27mins)

7. Armidale;
Its into autumn and the trees are turning crazy yellow/orange/brown colours...
Some really nice places to take group photos of cars.
There is Hungry Jacks, a KFC, a McDonalds, Red Rooster etc. if anyone is hungry/thirsty

Armidale to Guyra, approx 35 mins (Total travel time tally: 3hr 2mins)

8. Guyra
this is an optional alternative route back to Ebor.
Not much to do or see, but if you like tomatos then this is a great place to buy them!

Guyra to Ebor approx 70 mins (Total travel time tally: 4hr 12mins)

9. Ebor
Some pretty long, straight, quiet roads
Please remember to obey all posted speed limits as this is a double demerit weekend.
Anyone speeding will be doing the dishes after the party tonight!

Once back at Ebor, keep going straight towards Grafton,
A nice gentle road that drives though lush forests, then take the turn off back to dorigo!

HEAPS of things that could be done differently, obviously we could cut out the loop up to guyra and the long way home via the road to grafton but thats totally up to agreement from everyone else.

Distance varies between 300kms doing the full trip via Guyra, or 250kms returning from Armidale by back tracking
Remember, this is only an approximation

Kitty's personal recommendation for Easter Sunday is a nice cruise and an early return to the digs where we can all cook up a storm and relax in company.
This is when we all get 'Quality Time' together
Can you feel the lurve?

If others would like to continue on to Armidale and do the loop back that way, then please take plenty of pictures?

All replies go in the other thread: http://www.astinagt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7298

We have some terrific interest in this event, and an opportunity to catchup with members from all over the country. I encourage all members from AGT to participate in this. If you are a new member or haven't had a chance to get out on the cruises, come along to what will probably be the biggest AGT event so far.
Everyone is welcome, and even those that don't drive Mazda's!!! jk's

Keep up the great work everyone, and see you in April *biggrins*

Costs

Double Cabin is $186 for 3 days (Fri night, Sat night, Sun night, depart Monday)

Family Cabin is $326 for 3 days ($326 divided by 4 people is $81.50 each)

That's cheaper than an F1!!!

Hall Hire is only a couple of dollars each.
Decorations have been arranged, cost per person is TBA
Group Food (except for Leigh's cabin buddies) is TBA after shopping on Thursday night.

Make sure you allow for enough petrol to travel to and from Dorrigo, as well as the Saturday and Sunday cruising.

If I think of any other costs, I'll post it here and let you know but it certainly isn't going to break the bank

Saturday night is going to be in the hall, we're hiring it for a cost of $60 plus deccies and fud.
Please keep this in mind when budgetting for the trip.
It's not going to cost a lot and will be a memorable (or is that forgettable) experience

The rules of the hall hire:
Finish at 11.30pm - so I'm figurin that we'll kick it off after I get picked up from the airport.
We'll all have fun decorating, we'll buy some munchies and cook on the BBQ.
Also, we aren't allowed to be too loud.
Greg's house is near the Hall, so he say's if he can hear it, it's too loud for the folks staying in the family cabins nearby to the hall.
Fair enough.
I hate getting woken up at this time of day by the friggin builders and their pop music. I swear, they listen to old 80's gay music (being I was there in the 80's when the music was gay, I figure I can say that lol)

So, to make things clear:

1. I have confirmed the bookings
2. I have confirmed we will book the Hall for Saturday night.
3. The cabins all have fridges and microwaves
4. Lets get excited!!!
